I am going retro old school this year and going back to round nose bullets for deer this season. I picked up a box of these at a gun show in Morris PA right before they started cancelling everything and then loaded them up for my savage 99. Just wondering what kind of performance to expect on deer and bear?
Are they Interlocks or pre-lockt?

Either way in a .308 Win I’d be completely confident.
Round and flat nose bullets tend to knock stuff down faster, given the same diameter and velocity. To me it's pretty noticeable and worth the tradeoff if I'm hunting in the woods. I think you'll be surprised at the improvement.
Pre-locts flat based
That is what I am looking for. Posted property all around 3 sides with a road on 4th side.
I dont think I ever even knew Hornady made a 165g RN bullet in 308!!! How old are these??

I hord the SPEER 165RN as these are discontinued a d are awesome bullets!!

Fastest deadest deer I ever shot was with the Speer 165 RN out of a .300 Savage from a 99EG. Like someone popped a balloon. Your bullets shouldn’t work much differently. Good luck!

I've shot plenty of whitetails with 180gr RNs in both Remington core-lokts and Speer hot-cor flavors out of my 30/06. 165s out of your 308 should be about the equal I'm performance......good luck!
Shot quite a few deer with rn 150s in a .300 Savage. I agree with other posters that they hit like hammers. I'm back to using them in the .300 as I found a couple hundred Hornady 150 gn rn bullets from the old days. ..300 might have to go hunting again this year.
I think you'll like the round nose. I sure do...no critter I ever shot with them liked them.
I load roundnose bullets for my friend's 308.

It likes 150 grain bullets.

I have watched a deer that he was shooting and saw the impact at about 200 yards.

It was a red mist kind of thing.

Deer fell in his tracks.
I may still have a few Speer 165 gr RN tucked away somewhere............It was the best all around bullet I ever shot out of any and all the 30 cal(300 Sav,308 Win,30/06) rifles I shot them through ........Very accurate and hard hitting....Really a shame they don't make any more ...............
