Running out of the “ssc” version. What difference have you found in the regular vs the “SSC” version? I am loading a 264 wm with it. Thanks for any input.

I haven't looked at IMR's webpage or load data in a while, but I'd betcha a buck it still says the load data is the same for the two versions of the powder. I do use the regular version of 7828 in .264 Win Mag shooting 140-grain Accubonds, and it performs well. I do not need to compress powder at all to seat a bullet. My charge is 63.7 grains.

The only difference is that using the SSC version will allow up to 4% more powder due to the shorter grain size. You may see lower SD numbers as well due to the finer cut. I use the regular in my 280 Rem and 154 SST bullets, it is awesome. I found a bunch powder at a shop that was getting out of reloading. Bought all they had for 14 dollars per pound. All were the same lot.

Only limited experience between the two, but I have found no appreciable difference. That is in a 7mm STW with 160 gr Accubonds. Same load and very close on velocities.

They are the same. The ssc just fits better.

I always used the regular unless the SSC would fit and the regular wouldn't. I have better luck with slow powders when they're compressed.

I’ve found more variation between lots of long cut than a difference between long and short cut.

If I might suggest, VV24N41 from "Powder Valley" . Usually always in stock. Slower burning than Rel 33. Drives the Nosler 140 gr AB to 3228 fps in my Win 70 EW 26" Bbl & tiny groups. [img]https://www.powdervalleyinc.com/product/vihtavuori-24n41-8/[/img]

The only difference is how they flow through the powder measure.
