I've been using an excellent load of 69 grains RL-15 and the 260 grain Nosler Accubond for 10+ years from my 375 H&H. It's accurate, makes about 2650 fps, and has done a nice job on several black bears.
I'm very low on RL-15, but long on Varget...
Think a good load could be brewed up with 260/270 gr bullets and Varget?
I know that years ago during a Varget shortage, I built great 308 Win load with RL-15... The two were very similar in accuracy & velocity. Not sure that means anything re the 375 H&H though.
Thanks!
Hmm, answered my own question with a quick look at Hornady's manual. They show Varget with 250, 270 & 300 grain loads.

Cascade, you should have remained silent for a while. This could have provided a page or two of entertainment!

I'm thinking the ole H&H is pretty forgiving. RL-15 has been the standard forever.
I'd look at the burn rate chart, see what was close and what I could find. 4320 is discontinued, but should work if you could find some. 4064, LVR, CFE-223, Pw Pro 2000 LR (which some say is the same as CFE-223), H-380, Vv n-140, Norma 203B.
Big Game is pretty close and a great one in a number of rounds. I've heard it works in the .375 H&H. Haven't tried it in mine, yet.

Edited to add, of course, Varget would work. I save mine for specific loads, would use something else in my .375.

LOL - well - I wasn't too surprised to find Varget was recommended by Hornady, for the 375 H&H.
Varget and RL-15 were very similar in the 308 Win, and it appears that they're very similar in the 375 as well.
This makes my heart happy, as I have over 16 pounds of Varget on hand, and maybe a half pound of RL-15.

I think you could interchange Varget and RL15 in most calibers and not notice any difference. It's not something that's normally recommended, but......
They are interchangeable in my Ruger No. 1...
I am going to give R-16 a go with various 250 grain bullets. It should work as R-17 does well in the H&H.
