Yup. Trying to round some up. Not a hawk fan at all.

Darn shame there are so few quality flat nose bullet offerings for a mid bore lever gun. In my opinion a 200 to 220 grain bullet would sell if some one put them out there. The old Alaska Bullet Works business has been sold to a guy from Sitka and I am trying to find out his contact number so we can ask him to offer the excellent bonded bullet in a 210 to 220 grain version. I have some of their old 250's and heard they might have some 180 grain bullets left. Their bonded bullet is .025 at the nose tapering to .050 at the base. Based on the excellent reputation their bullets have I would not be surprised if the 180 grain version did not kill elk and moose well, especially out to 150 yards with lung shots.

Thanks to Campfire regular "Dinny" a machinist made me up a hollow pointer to use on the 220 grain Speer FN. Finding the right depth and size of hole will be the trick, but if range is kept under 150 yards may not be needed with the 220 grain Speer. But, in my opinion the little .356 case is handicapped because of the lever guns action strength and available bullets.

Hawk offers a few .358 lever gun bullets, but their round nose offerings are better then their flat nose offerings. Not a big deal as I took a file to the round nose of the 350 grain Hornady .458 bullets for years and shot them out of my old Marlin 45-70.

The mid bore old school lever gun cartridges, bullets and improvements in action strengths are a neglected lot, which is a darn shame as good bonded bullet would give them a much needed boost. As would a 210-220 grain Nosler Partition.

If all else fails, I wonder how 225 Partitions with noses filed flat back to the start of copper would work? Looks like about a .165" flat nose at that point on the few I measured. No cannelure though.

Damn....they discontinued it? I think I have around 100 or so left, I may have to find another box to pick up.

These shoot well out of my 35 Remington and worked well a decent size hog.

Sierra 225 knocks them down plenty good from my 358 Winchester, close up or out to two hundred yards.
I wonder if something like this would work. Similar to what EdM is showing.

Out of a tube fed lever gun?

Those Hammer bullets look interesting and being a long time user of Barnes X bullets I will order some after I call and get more info on twist rates and load data. If I could drive the 223 grain .358 bullets to 2,350 or more MV and they penetrate similar to a Barnes X I would be a happy camper.

If any one has used them please share the results.
Someone on the Fire used them in a 7mm (I think) that shot 1 hole group with his rifle. Can't say about the 35. From memory I think he used Barnes data.

That 203 gr hammer shock will work
I have a really nice 94 BB in 356. I almost never shoot it and I have never hunted with it.
I need to remedy this.

Might want to reread that. Five boxes of Fifty makes 250 total. Still wouldn’t be a bad pickup.

I see he made a correction to the add in description sorry I didn’t catch that. 250 bullets not 500. I was excited to help. Lol
I’m kinda excited to. I have them in my watch list.

Picked up a nib Winchester Bigbore in 356 about a year ago. I’ve been shooting 35’s for 40 yrs now and dearly love them. I used the last of my 220 speers so started playing. Some of the bullets I’ve tested in the 356 are:

Speer 180 flat tip at 2600 fps. It will consistently shoot 1.5” at 200 yrds. and will penetrate into the sixth milk jug of water. This load will slap any deer or hog silly! Never recovered a bullet all pass through.

Hornady 250 round nose (filed flat). I easily reach 2150 fps and get 1.5 - 2” groups at 200 yrds. This is the load I use for hogs or black bear over bait. I’ve never recover a bullet in an animal, even length wise on 300 lb boars.

Woodleigh 225 round nose (filed flat), I get 2350 fps and the bullet ends up in the 7th milk jug. With out a crimp groove I sit them on top of a case full of H4895 and use a Lee factory crimp die. I’m really pleased with the woodliegh and may switch to it for my best snd hog load.

I have several hundred 180 & 200 gr barns ttsx’s. I’m planning on pulling the tips and seeing how they shoot.
