What are your favorite loads in .250-3000 ?
35 grains of H4895 and a 100 grain bullet, typically a Ballistic Tip but this last year I used a number of Game Kings.
Pretty much the same here, though I use slightly less H4895 and a Sierra 100 ProHunter (I think they stopped making that one) but a GK will probably work as well. Another very accurate bullet is the Sierra 90 grain HPBT and H4895. I tried many powders in several .250 Savage and .250 Ackley Improved rifles, but never found a better powder than H4895. However, a few months back, I did some limited testing with H4350 and the 100 ProHunter. Initial results showed accuracy would equal the H4895 load with the 100 ProHunter. I also got a little better velocity but the load was compressed a bit.
35gr. H4895 + 87 Speer in my pre-war Savage's. Same load works a treat in my Douglas barreled Ruger 1A so I don't bother loading anything else anymore, although 100 grainers shoot just as well with H4895 in the 1-10" twist Douglas barrel. Simplify, simplify. (And I laid in 15 boxes of the Speers when they were still commonly available.)
34 grains of IMR 4064 and pretty much any 100 grain bullet. Was my Dads' favorite.
this is the first time loading .250-3000, I have used IMR 4064 in .257 Roberts with 100gr. bullets and found it to produce good accurate results.
In my Ruger M77 I use the above 35 gr H4895 with a 100 Hornady Interlock, discontinued.a few years ago. Last year I tried the 100 gr flat base Speer Hot Core with good results. In my MN99R Savage with it's slow twist I use 36 gr RL-15 with the Speer 87 gr Hot Core and sometimes 36 gr Big Game with the 100 Hot Core. The Hot Core is shorter than most other 100s, but the 87 is still more accurate in this rifle. Both have done nice work on whitetails.
I use 35 grains of blc2 with 100 gr bullets in my 99.
I load 34.5 of Reloader 15 using the Hornady 100 gr interlock. My preferred hunting load is 40.0 of H-4831sc topped with the Hornady 117 gr SST bullet in a 1/10 twist barrel. This load is of course "compressed" ..accurate and deadly. I found the .250 Savage late in life.....and so glad I did.

My local dealer has a couple boxes of the Hornady 100 gr interlock on the shell in Hornady's new packaging.
I like 100gn bullets and have settled on the 100gn Hornady. However, I've always loaded H4350 over faster H4895 and Varget. H4350 has always given me the highest velocity in my 20 inch barrel Ruger Ultralight.
Ruger 77.117 RN Horn. 34.0gr. IMR 4064.
I like RN bullets, heavy for caliber.
And I hunt in the woods.
Take care,Scott
I use 35-36 grains of RL15 and any 100 gr bullet, gives me 2800 fps + and sub moa accuracy.
My go to powder for 250/3000 in my rifles and Encore pistol.
37gr RL15 gives about 3250 with 75gr Sierra HPs and Hdy Vmax and 3003fps with 100gr NBTs in my 700 Classic, and 3070 with 87gr Speer HCs in my 99 Savage. Sub-inch groups in the 700 with all bullets, 1 1/2-1 3/4" with the Savage.

I'm a sucker for fueling the .250-3000 at 3000fps as Mr. Newton intended 107 years ago. Lustier loads are do-able but I don't care. Other rifles are available if more moxie is needed.
I run bolt guns, a Mod 20 and a 700. Matching powder to bullet weight, like the .308, most any powder you stick in the case will work. I haven`t tried Goex tho.
With a 700 Classic that used to live here & 100 gr. Sierras it was a tossup between 3031 & 4064 somewhere near book max. R-P brass & R-P 9 1/2. A bolt gun should easily handle more than SAAMI allows for the 250, a 99 maybe not so much.
With light weight bullets up to 90 grains, any medium burn rate powder is good. With 100 grain bullets I like H4350. My bolt gun with 24" barrel gives me 3,000 fps with a 100 grain bullet and H4350. It has a 1 in 10" twist.

100 grain bullets won't stabilize in my Savage 99F with 1 in 14" twist barrel. The 90 grain Sierra HPBT shoots great in that rifle. However, for hunting deer, I would use the 87 grain Speer. My powders of choice there are CFE223 and LEVERevolution. Either powder will give me 3,000 fps with 87 or 90 grain bullets.
I am down to one .250. I sold my 99 but I still have a Savage Model 14 bolt action with a real neat old Burris compact 3x9. It is one of the most accurate rifles I have ever shot and I get slightly over 3K FPS with 100 grainers pretty easily.
34.5 grains H 4895, 87 grain Speer Hot-Cor in a Savage 99-A.

Oh...you bet it is. Love seeing "Roundoaks" nifty little .250.
+1 in a Ruger 77 RSI.
