I have access to several pounds of StaBall powder. What cartridges does it work well in besides the creedmore? I load 260, 308, 3006, 6.5-6, 338-06, 270 wsm, 243 and 6.5 SAUM. Just wondering if any of these cartridges would be good candidates for StaBall 6.5 Powder. Thanks for any feedback.

30-06, 260, and 243 for sure. I like it a lot in my 30-06 and 6 CM.

What bullet weight are you using in the 260 with it and what velocities are you getting. I have 5 lbs of Win Staball 6.5. Do you use a magnum primer?

I've just begun playing with it. The one load I've got that's a real good one is a 120 BT out of my 7-08. I've not tried anything else yet. I'll try heavier bullets in the 7-08 next.

I didn’t use it in the 260, but in my 6.5 CM with 127 LRX’s just to check speeds attainable. It was solidly in the 2900 range without drama. I made the leap that if it works in the 6.5 Creed, 243 and 6 Creed it’ll work well in the 260.

I am using Mag primers for them all though. 250’s.

I use it in my 7x57, 280AckImp, and 6.5 Creedmoor. My dad is loading it in his 6.5x55, 7mm08, and 30-06.

This is very encouraging to hear it working so well in so many different cartridges!

I just bought some Nosler 120 Ballistic Tips to try in my 7mm-08. I've been told that Rl-15 works and now a report that Staball 6.5 works. I will try both of these powders and see if my 7mm-08 rifles like them.

I also load for 260 and 6.5x55, as well as many others.

It also works well in fast twist 22-250 with 75-80gr bullets.
I have been tinkering with it in 270 Win also

I've been wanting to try it in 338-06. Haven't seen any on the shelves though. Looking at the load data on the Hodgdon website the velocities listed look very impressive. I haven't a clue as to accuracy in this cartridge/powder combo however. Try it and let us know!

The 30-06 and 6.5 Creed and a few others work well with H4350, so I would think the Staball would also and reports say it does. If I ever get time I will try it in my .348 Ackley Improved and compare it to H4350 with 250 grain Kodiak Bonded Bullets and Federal 215 primers and Norma cases. After years of using the same loads, I find myself chasing velocity again, knowing no Alaskan critter I shoot will appreciate my time and money spent or the extra velocity. They just don't care. LOL

7x57 - 150 gn
.30-'06 - 200 gn
.300 H&H - 200 gn
.358 Norma - 250 gn

Did you consider looking at Hodgdon's web site? They have data for Winchester powders .. this one included. Looks like it should work more or less anywhere 4350 is a good choice.

Will do, but I misspoke it’s 140 gr Accubonds. I’m leaving here shortly to run though my chronograph.

Developed a load using Hodgdon's Reloading data for the 22-250 using a 55grn bullet. Nice tight group

Dixie, my best velocity was with 40.8 grains at 2533 FPS. I had a few errors with the Magneetospeed, and two were totally on me. For AK standard it was hot as hell. Got in the truck to leave and it was 89. I was tired and thinking about everything I needed to do at home, so I packed up and came home. I did finish load development on my .308 and the .270 my son claims is his.

Thanks for the update. I'm a little surprised to see the velocity under 2600. I was thinking Staball might produce some faster velocity. Though I know velocity isn't the more important factor.

Hopefully, your 308 and 270 grouped well for you. Hunting season is not too far off.

.308 is good to go with Varget and the 270 Win load is with IMR4831. I’m happy with both.

I'm planning to use it in .375 Ruger but only after I've used up some other powders.

I use the Staball powder with my 338-06 Ackley. My rifle is a Remington model 30 with a 26in Benchmark barrel. I use a hornady 225sst with 66gr of Staball. My velocity sets at 2900fps. I haven’t encountered pressure signs with this powder. It’s a little dirty on the necks, but it shoots good and has easy extraction.
