I have both and like the short action. I am around 2850 with 200gr NAB and in the 300 WM 3000. 69 grs vs 75 grs +/-. 1-less capacity, brass has not been an issue for me so moot point IMHO.
I’ve got both as well. I can’t say finding WSM brass has been an issue for me either, I just don’t want to pay inflated prices is all. I load 165 gr. TTSX in my 300 WSM and 180 gr. Accubonds in the 300 WM. Since I just started reloading for both back in the winter, I haven’t tried much more at the time.
I have both in left handed model 70's. they both feed and shoot wonderfully. 180gr bullets are 3000fps in the WSM. A little more in the WM. I can guarantee an elk can't tell the difference. John
I've used both Winchester 70 (new CRF) that worked swell and Kimber 8400 ("almost CRF?) in 300WSM that fed very well. Remington 700 SA had to be tweaked a bit to feed OK, still pretty rough. Great round though, I stuck with Barnes 168 TSX and later 168 TTSX. R17 was King! I don't own one now as I have a soft spot in my heart for the 300WM, its Old Faithful to me.
