So as not to hijack the other thread, I’m out of my old standards, the Nosler 130g partitions but I found some 150’s. I’ll be using Winchester cases and CCI BR Primers but am looking for input from this group that has experience with this combination. I have several powders that you might expect to be appropriate but would appreciate your suggestions for best loads.
Thanks in advance,
Bayou Bob
pm me for load 150 Partitions
What powders do you have on hand?
H4831, H4350, RL22, RL19, RL17, IMR4350, IMR 4831, IMR7828, Big Game, Hunter, Magnum.....several others but they are probably not appropriate for this use.
ETA: Forgot RL26 too
I’ve used them with great results with H4350 and IMR4831. Bears, caribou, and elk
I’d probably try H4831 first, and then move on to others if it if it didn’t work.

Well, you "forgot" about RL26. That would have been the first on my list..
Better give RL26 a try. It works really good with a 150 Partition.

You have a bunch of powders that work well in the .270.
Reloder 26 is my favorite for that bullet.
I also got good results with Hunter and 150's, just to throw in a random one, but Rl26 and 4831 are probably the first steps.

Been using 270's and 150 Pt's for 35 years. H4831 was the go to powder for decades. RL-26 upped the game. H4350 can be very accurate. IMR7977 was mediocre for both accuracy and velocity, but works great with the 160 Pt--go figure. RL-22 is one of the more temp sensitive powders I have every tested. When I tried IMR7828 decades ago it wasn't anything special.
RL26 will most likely be your huckleberry if top velocity is important. It's worked well with 150 Partitions for me.
I’ve heard range talk that was very positive about RL26 and read numerous good reports online. But, I bought a pound to try in my 300 WM with 180 Accubonds and was very disappointed. Velocity was no better than H4831 and it smoked badly. Not black powder level but bad nonetheless. This is why I forgot about it as I haven’t used it since those tests in ‘18. Maybe I just got a bad lot. I’ll try it again...maybe it’s a better performer in the 270. I have plenty of H4831 as a back up just in case and can live with 2750-2800+ FPS as it will be used for whitetails at 300 yards max in a few weeks.
Thanks again to all for the input.

First off, save that H4831 for your 270. Use IMR4350 in your big wm. Of course RL26 is your huckleberry in the 270 as well with the 150. You'll easily get speeds of 3,000 fps with that powder and bullet. I'd expect good accuracy around that velocity as well. Many here, including myself, have btdt... that's even with a 22" barrel. Try it, you should like the results

Same here. Between 58-61 grains is pretty serious in most 270’s. 2950-3050 and usually very accurate.
7828 shot extremely well in my Kimber Montana.
MRP worked the best of anything I tryed. I got a little over 3000FPS with it . Killed a couple elk with the load.
At this time, I do not have a 270 Win.
Hmm!
