I have finally acquired everything to get the bob on paper. I have tons of rl17 and h4831 which should be in the hunt for my quest to make a 100gr ballistic tip fly. My bullet choices are all 100gr as have a pile of tsx, bal tips and partitions.

I only have 20 pieces of brass to work with (THANKS HANK!)....and this is really just going to be a nostalgia gun. Its a 1972 m77 that had a tough life with a stock repair and I cerakoted it years ago for a friend who turned around and gave it to me.

So, 100gr pills and brass friendly data.... soliciting advice.

Thanks in advance.

I went with just a touch slower powder than RL 17 and use H4350. The only 100 grainer I loaded was the Speer.

I keep all my loads right at or just a touch below 3000 fps because that's what the 24" barrel likes, and because +P brass doesn't come around all that often.

Bullet: Speer 100 gr. SP BT
Brass: Remington +P
Powder: H4350 46.5 gr.
CBTO: 2.40"
COAL: ~2.85"

Go forth and have fun!

Been using 46-H4350 with the 100 Interlock in my Ruger for so long I don't remember what all else I did try. Just over 3000 fps in the 22" tube, Standard Winchester brass and primer.

I had a bit of brass and some bt's....so we'll see how she runs.

For 115gr Nosler Partitions I use Rl23, Norma MRP, and RL26. For light bullets I use RL17 and RL16. RL16 is temperature stable, RL17 is not.

I would think the RL 17 would be your baby with 100's. I've been running H4350 for years in mine. I've had good luck with 17 though before where a 4350ish burn rate was recommended.

Good luck & let us know how it goes

I,m sure RL17 will work just fine in a 257 Roberts with 100gr bullets. I shoot almost all 115gr and 110gr Accubonds, so I am more familiar with those.

In my little world, my 257’s preferences start and stop with IMR-4350. Mine love lay powder with 100 grain partitions.

So glad I could help you with the brass!!!

Hank

Didn’t I send you 30 pieces? The bag was marked as such.

Closest I have is:
92g Hammer Hunter
43.5g IMR 4064

H-4831 (ss) and 100gr bullets. Load to 3,000fps or until you see pressure signs. At 3,000fps with 4831 should be an easy load on brass.

I’ve had excellent results from Ramshot Hunter & 100 Gr NBTs in several .257 Rob rifles I’ve owned.

Same with 90 Gr GMXs & 110 Gr NABs.

IIRC Ramshot lists 47 Gr as max but my rifles have liked 46.5 w/ WLRMs. Confirm that on their site. Great case life.

36 grn IMR 4895

100 grn B tip

Any of the 4350’s.

100gr Hornadys and H4350 or RL 19 work well in mine. Haven't tried RL 17, but I tend to stop looking once I have a load dialed in.

100 gr BTs and either 4320 or Varget. Middle book loads from Nosler give you 2900ish fps and shoots lights out in mine. Long brass life and plenty of pop for deer and coyotes.
