I just picked up my first 25-06 and would like recommendations for factory ammo. Most of my hunting is in the northeast for whitetail. I do hunt Ontario as well where the deer are a bit heavier. I don’t reload. I see that the loads run from 100 to 120 grains. For those that have been successful with the 25-06, any recommendations?

Never used 100 grain except for antelope. Haven’t ever bought factory, but 115 BT or 117-120 anything will more than suffice.

Right now you find some first buy as many boxes as you can afford before you get picky. None of it shoots bad yet one or two might shoots better but you don't have 2 months or 2 weeks or 2 days or 2hrs to take it out and do a comparison with groups. Right now if they put out 2 or 3 cases of new 120 gr Remington Corelokt factory loads it will disappear while you stand there being indecisive on how much to buy. Some gal with a cell phone in her ear will be talking to her "other" and next thing you know she will have swept the whole stack in her shopping basket while you are standing there trying to act like a gentleman. After the local Scheels store lifted their limits on ammo I've seen it happen all to frequently. No I am not bullschitting you....mb

I’d agree with that. It’ll all work for deer about 100 grains. Even less if you can get the Barnes stuff.

I’d completely trust the Rem Corelokt - in stock as I type. It’ll get you going.

My Favorite 25-06 factory ammo was the Federal 117 High Shock Soft Points, Idaho Mule Deer drop like they are hit with a lightning bolt.

I've always had quick drt kills on deer with 120g factory ammo in mine. I typically prefer heavy for caliber ammo usually.

Those 120 Corelokts at $35 a box are the best your going to find, grab up 10 boxes while you can!

No issues with the Hornady 117 gr SST factory load if you can find any.

Back in the bad old days I bought a lot of 120 gr Corelokts as component bullets yeah bulk packed.They were about as good a cup n' core bullet money could buy, so factory ammo wise they are a good buy good luck...mb

I’ve killed about 30 Pronghorns, from 80-360 yds. with Winchester Ballistic Silvertip, 115 gr. Factory ammo. I love the stuff. The majority have dropped where they stood. The rest have ran off a bit but no more than 20 yds.

I have used the Remington coreloks for deer for 35 years. Never had to shoot one twice. I only use 100 grainers. They shoot the best in my rifle. I tried the 120 grain and grouped poorly. 100 grn were always sub moa and killed deer fast. Proper bullet placement is everything.

I have had good luck with Hornady American Whitetail, 117 gr. My son has used it to shoot a couple deer and one antelope, one shot DRT for all of them. Couldn't find any components to load so went the factory route, shot pretty well so I bought several boxes for him.
