Looking great. 4 or 500 yard group? 300WSM?

Looking good. Gotta love that copper splash. Not bad for a 30-06. Looked like a 300WSM or 300RSAUM load to me though.. That's got to be a real stiff load for an 06. "64gr" of Hunter?

Hodgdon lists 61.6 grains of Hunter as maximum for the 168 TTSX, for 2902 fps from a 24" barrel.

But the pressure is only around 56,000 PSI. Lots of room for pressure....

I need an elk load for this fall. I have enough 168s and enough Hunter to give this a try.

Hmmm...

I’m going to have to try that in my Kimber as well.. 🤔

Yeah, I saw that. The reason I was wondering about the 64gr load. Just seemed like a lot of powder for the 06. Wondering what the velocity is?
I use Hunter powder in my 30-06 with Barnes 168 T-TSX 215 primers.
60.6 grains of Hunter, 215 primers, Norma brass I get 3068 fps. 24-inch barrel.

Shoots great groups, and puts meat in the freezer.

I worked the load up watching for 2900 FPS

Pouring the powder slowly into the cases helps and light taps settle the powder a bit more. Seating the bullets creates a compressed loads

That's a killer load. Combined with the light rifle makes for an incredible utility killer. Nice work JWP.

Hell yes. As long as it's safe. 2,950 fps is pretty damn good with that bullet and the old 06. Something I may need to experiment with. Thanks for posting jwp.. That treads on the heals of my new 300RSAUM.. Just slapped one of my 300WBY's in bedding compound in its new Pacific Research stock. Gotta love the 30 cals. Glad to see someone putting a 30-06 to good use.. That will be an elk slaying sob..

I think there are a few fellas with 24” barrels knocking down 2900+ with H4350 and 168 TTSXs as well. No matter the powder, that’s a wicked combo, in a Kimber or whatever light gun you prefer is pretty big medicine.

Ramshot Hunter is an excellent powder for the 30-06 to get velocities up while keeping pressures down below max.
I even tried H-4350 with the 215 primer with as much as 60 grains without reaching 2900 FPS in 2 rifles
Well that sure knocks the barnacles off the old war horse! Great load!

Well, it stomps the book max load of 2,869 with a heavily compressed load of RL19. I still have about 5 pounds of Hunter powder left, so I may do some experimenting.
