Hi all I finally used up the last of my RL22 and am having a hard time finding RL22 and when I do the price is giving me a bit of heartburn @$68lb at my LGS.

With that said I'm looking for powder and bullet recommendations for .300WM on deer sized game. I've been using 165gr nosler NBT's but they are hard to find so I'm considering switching to Hornaday.

What's worked for you that's readily available and reasonably priced by today's standards.

I've loaded a 150r. TTSX to about 3200fps with RL19 for a buddy. I also have used IMR-4831 and 4350. He uses that load for everything.

I use the same bullet in my 30-06 at 3000fps with IMR-4064.

Not sure if you have powders on the shelf or looking to buy something new. I was at my local Sportsman's Warehouse last night and saw IMR-4350 for $74.99/lb and H4350 for $65/lb!!!

I'm glad I have what I have and probably will never have to buy another can of powder!!

For 180s and under I use H4831 and FED215s.

My current deer load is the Nosler 168 ABLR at 3170FPS.

For heavier I like H1000 and FED215s.

the load i will be using for my trip to Africa is Reloader 19 - 71 grs. , 160 gr. Hammer Hunter bullets ,new Winchester brass ,Federal 215 primers ,this is a common load in the Nosler book . my 300 Win. mag. shoots 1nch or less 3 shot groups at 100 yds, my rifle is a Remington 700 Tactical with a Nightforce scope . good luck ,Pete53

200 grain Eld X with R 22. Switching over to VV powder after I'm out of r 22.

I ended up with a bad batch of RL 22 a number of years ago, so I switched over to RL 23. Got an 8 lb container of it.

It suppose to be more temp stable than RL 22. My other alternative is RL 19.

If I need a fire breather, I use 83 grains of H 1000 with a 220 grain RN of some flavor. 300 Weatherby load, in a 300 Win Mag. But the rifle or the brass doesn't seem to notice.

If I carry it, its normally for an elk load. For deer, a 6.5 Grendal, 243 or 260 Rem is plenty enough. Last deer I dropped last year was taken by a 6 x 45, with a 95 grain Ballistic Tip.

If you can find it RL 23 would be a better substitute.
More temp stabile than RL 22 supposedly.

IMR4350,A4350,H4350 and Hunter have all worked well for me with 165gr-200gr bullets.

I recently worked up a 168 grain .300 Win Mag load with Reloder 16. At just under 3100 fps, it shoots well and has moderate recoil. RL-16 is not cheap but it's been fairly available lately.

RL23 is a great powder for the 300WM, I just recently finished a load at 325 yds with 23, Fed 215 and 185 Berger that shoots less than 1" probably 3/4" at 325 running 3125 fps.
Conditions wouldnt let me shoot at 665 were I normally do so that is the only thing I have to do with this rifle is confirm it at 665.
If I didn't already have 3.5 lbs of 23 I would be trying V560 and 165. I did try 565 it showed promise but 23 won out, only problem with 565 is getting enough in the case

This^^^. A long time ago, I gave up on anything except a 200gr Nosler partition or accubond in the 300wm. No need to run anything any heavier or lighter in this workhorse. I'm mainly an elk hunter though, but I know those pills also work on deer sized game. A 200gr partition at 2,900 is just about right in this cartridge.

Bullets 200 and 220 grain partitions.

The H1000 and 200 grain partitions shoot about 1/3” 5 shot groups at 104 yards.

H-4831, H-1000, Magpro get excellent velocity with 180 grain bullets in my experience

Seen it mentioned a couple of times already. Don't own a 300 WM but have worked up loads for buddies. In the 165-168 gr range which is the bullets they wanted to shoot so that's what I was working with, 4831 produced outstanding accuracy. IMR in 1 rifle, H4831 in the other.

180 grain partition or accubond H1000. 200 grain partition or accubond H4831.

IMR 4831 produces .5 inch groups out of my Savage with 165 gr Sierra SBT and HPBT and Nosler Partition 180

The best accuracy I got with my first .300 was with 180 grain partitions and about a half grain under book max of H4350. A lot of rifles have shot best for me with a powder that is just a smidge faster than you'd expect and didn't quite fill the case.

I've never particularly cared for the .300 win mag for deer especially with lighter bullets. Simply too much velocity remaining at impact. I've made a horrific mess of deer with it a time or two. I call it an ideal dual purpose coyote and elk cartridge .. skip deer and antelope. For deer I'd really prefer a .338 and its lower velocity and more heavily jacketed bullets.

These are my preferred powders with a 300 win. I've always liked the 200 partition and when the 200 accubond came out o had great luck with it too and a better BC.

I'm starting to load for a new bergara fsp I recently bought and I'm starting with h1000 and 225g ends. Hopefully they shoot well. I know I'll probably try some h1000 and 200g accubonds too just because I almost always end up trying that in any 300 win.

Thanks Everyone! I have some readily available options here. I'll likely give 180 SST's or interlocks as well as 200gr ELD-x hornady's a try. The 165 NTB's tend to make a heck of a mess of smaller deer

I have had good luck with H4350 with the 130 & 150 TTSX. I used 130TTSX on a nice doe in Georgia this last year and she DRT. My CA Mesa also likes the 165 TTSX with IMR4831.
