Anyone use/have experience with the 400gr Trophy Bonded in a 458 win. ?
Nope... Just the 500grn.. 400 would be too light for Cape Buffalo in my book. But seems as your in Alaska, I assume your talking bear. I think they would be the perfect pill for that job. personaly I would use Swift for the deeper penetration, the TB are softer and open up faster but I'm sure will do a super job just the same.

Yep, bear and moose would be my area of interest. I have fired a few of the Federal TB factory loads, busting rocks and recovered one which looked pretty good. The recoil was very acceptable, but the price for the factory loads is between 90 & 100 bucks -not acceptable - As mentioned, in another thread, I have not yet got my reloader up and running, which seems urgent with the prices of factory loads. I did purchase a couple of boxes of 450 TSX's, but am thinking a 400 premium may be just as well suited for my intent purpose. Wish barnes made the 400 gr again, but in the TSX. I see where they are coming out with a 350 gr in 08. I have shot some 350 gr Rem factory load A-Frames in a 416 Rem, no game just plinking and thought that a good load with very acceptable accuracy. I will see if I can find some A-frame 400's for the 458. Thanks for the input.

I don't have my Swift book handy, but I recall they don't make a 400gr only 450 which is one heck of a bullet smile
