Hi All,
Anyone have data for the 200g TSX in 358 win? I have H4895, varget and IMR 4064 on the shelf.

Any help?

The old X would safely shoot as much IMR 4895 as you could cram and compress in the case. It shot pretty well that way too. I suspect slower stuff: Varget and 4064, could be loaded likewise to lesser velocities, but perhaps good results anyway.

H4895 can be loaded with care at generally the same rate as as IMR 4895 - at least in the 358 Winchester.

This data is from the American Rifleman, April 2007 issue, page 35 per Bryce Towsley.

Case: Winchester
Primer: CCI 200
Powder: Varget
Charge: 53.0 Grs.
Bullet: 200 Gr TSX
Velocity: 2502 fps
Barrel: 21"

Don't know what rifle you are going to load for, but the TSX is pretty long and you may run into magazine constraints/compressed load issues if you can't seat the TSX out far enough. I have used 52.0 grains of Varget under a 200 gr Hornady SP. I get better accuracy with 3031 though (old BLR).

Try a maximum of 53 grains of Varget with WLR primers. This is data from Barnes providing 2653 fps in a 24" barrel.

51 grains of Varget shoots 2473 in my BLR and gives me a 1" group. My best load has been with IMR3031 (47 grains) yielding 2476 fps and 0.66" groups.

I am getting far better ballistics with the 225 TSX and 43 grains of AA2015 (0.31" group/2221 fps).

Thanks a bunch. I really need some idea where to top out.

I will load up a series and go Chronograp them and see how it goes.

I agree. Even with shorter 200 gr bullets I favor RL 10 now and before that IMR's 3031 in the .358 Win. With FL or new brass a case will hardly hold 53 grs of Varget let alone a bullet!

Too many numbers jumbled together for my ADD mind to sort out.... is the translation that 48.96 grains of H 4895 is a max load for the 200 TSX bullet likely to produce 2558 fps?

I have not tried RX10, but I have gone back to 3031 (45.0 gr). It was never broke, so I don't know why I tried to fix it. The Hornady Interlocks will do serious damage to Whitetails in the .358, and I should have left well enough alone. I

Yes with a predicted pressure of 58519 psi. see heading on top.

I have H 4895, I’m going to try it in a 358 I have on the way.

noKnees,
If you want max velocity, Mule Deer's Ram Shot TAC load of 52 gr w/ the 200 gr TSX produced 2749 fps. Using magnum primers & Win cases.
Posted By: ringworm Re: 358 win 200g TSX data - 12/09/18
Lots of TAC....LOTS!
Posted By: gunswizard Re: 358 win 200g TSX data - 12/09/18
While not a .358 I suspect results would be comparable, I have used IMR 3031 with Hornady 200 gr. RN the load produced outstanding accuracy and great performance in harvesting this year's buck. I wouldn't hesitate to try IMR 3031 with 200 gr. TSX in .358.
