Haven't used them in the .270 Win but I did try them in a .270 WSM that shot premium factory ammo in about 7 inch groups. The E-Tips shot extremely well. 3 shot 5/8" group at 100 yds. I like them still thinking of running them in the .270 Win just haven't had the time to work ip a ladder and shoot.

Mike, I'm interested to hear how it goes for you.

WOW that's great I can't seem to get them rascals dialed in, which is hard to believe being that they have such a good BC. I did push them back .100 off so we'll see how they do tomorrow!!!!

Thanks Fellas.

No problem Sam. Heading to the range with them in the a.m.Expecting good things since the 30 cal 150gr has shot great for me.

My kids and I shot 8 deer with 130 grain E-tips in my 270 win last fall. They performed well, with 6 being one shot kills. I used 54 grains of W760 powder which clocked just under 3000 fps. I didn't shoot many of them at paper to check accuracy, but meat in the freezer was proof enough for me.

bpolege: Did you get good expansion with them? Near as you could tell?

I hit a sweet spot with this bullet, out of a 24" tube, at 60 gr of 4831SC. Velocity for several groups averaged 3,028 fps, zero pressure signs, grouping repeatedly a bit under 1MOA.
Used it on a whitetail this past season, but I don't think it was much of a test. The shot was close, but I did note a reduction in the amount of bloodshot than I had expected. The exit hole looked liked something larger than .277 had exited. 1 rib had been hit.
I am giving serious consideration to using this combination on a moose hunt in October as the bullet is grouping well out to 300 yards, tho a little more that MOA at that range. The weak link is more likely the shooter than the equipment.

So far from todays range time can't say I'm all that impressed with that 130gr E.Accuracy wasn't too great right from the start.Which is a big surprise. The 30 cals shoot super good for me.

But gonna scrub down the bore and knock them back a hair. Will have another go Wednesday evening if weather permits.Maybe the rifle don't like em..Got me

Hmmm, that kinda sucks Mike.

The 150 ET's seemed a little squirrely outta my WSM but who knows.

Good luck.

We'll throw everything at it again on Wednesday. There was only 14 shots on that barrel since it was cleaned so can't see it being a dirty bore.

I don't understand, these rascals are inaccurate out of my wsm as well I would've bet the farm the ET's would do well with the BC they have.

BC hasnt a thing to do with it.

BC doesn't affect accuracy, it affects how well the bullet cuts through the air and is affected by the wind.
Accuracy issue doesn't surprise me. I had no luck getting E-Tips -- or TSX, for that matter -- to shoot well out of my Montana 308. Oddly enough, that rifle preferred Federal Fusions to everything else. The fact of the matter is that some barrels just don't like non-lead bullets.

Funny thing the rifle loves the 130gr TSX..As it sits now those TSX are gonna be the hunting bullet for this rifle. But will still give those E some more range time.See if I can get them dialed in better.

I wouldn't give up on them until I had worked them in and out for seating depth. My experience has been that each rifle is it's own set of rules. I have a Savage .223 that shoots 70 grain TSXs into itty bitty groups at 3000 FPS. Seat them .020 too deep and the groups open to 8 inches. This is at over .100 off the lands. My Sako .243 likes them .005 off. My 760 30-06won't shoot a 130 TSX less than an inch unless the speed is down at 2900. It shoots the 130 TTSXs into less than an inch at anything between 2950 and 3150 and doesn't seem to care about seating depth at all. My 300 WM likes 130 grain TSXs but not 130 grain TTSXs.

I have found seating depth to be critical enough that the sweet spot was only +- .005 or so. It also is IMO more critical to accuracy in some rifles than velocity/charge weight.

Just got in from another quick range session.Got my azz chewed off from bugs and the E's still stunk..My best groupings were at 59 grs of H 4831 SC.One more try with the bullets back even further in the case. After that if it's a no go I'll call that one a TSX gun.

How far off the lands are you now? My '06 with the 150's shot several groups under 1 inch .110 " off the lands, .070 " away it was shooting around 1 3/4 inches.

About .070 away last range time.
