Which would be the better powder with 130 gr bullets? I know there are other powders that are probably better but due to the current high demand this is what I have on hand.
I've never used 4350 in the .270 but I've used 4064 a lot and it works good. 49.5 gr. 4064 with 130 gr. bullet is an old O'Conner load. It gives 3050 fps out of my 22" bbl. and is accurate too. Good load.
I'll take accuracy and a 100 fps less MV for an increase in accuracy any day...
That has been my experience with those powders in an '06. Interesting that it works that way for you in the .270. I guess I just had it in my mind that 4064 would be too fast for that cartridge, and I've had good luck velocity/accuracy wise with 4831. I'll have to try it.
They both work good......I used to load a lot with both powders in the 270.....
That O'Connor load of 4064 was used on everything by him, from deer to moose and grizzly.A side benefit of 4064 is that it has milder report and boots less than the slower powders.
You can throttle the 4064 load back 47-48 grs, to give 2700-2800 with the 130 and 140 gr bullets, and good accuracy, and PRESTO...you have a 7x57 or 7/08! How easy was that!
Older thread but my experiences with IMR-4064 is that it acts like a slower powder in LA cases and a faster powder in SA cases. I have used it in everything from .223 to 30-06 with good to excellent results throughout.

Emasculate a 270? It's that easy? I thought it was just gay . . .
