I currently have .308 caliber 150 grain ballistic tips, 165 grain ballistic tips, 178 grain a-max's, and 208 grain a-max's. Anybody have real accurate loads with these or similar bullets? If not other loads will still be appreciated. The rifle these loads may possibly be fired out of is a Remington 700 Sendero SF II. Thanks!

92 gr rl 25, rem case, 200 gr nosler accubond, Fed 215M, OAL--as long as your magazine allows; probably around 3.650 or a little longer. Work up to this load as it may be too hot for some guns and also because RL 25 can vary in burning rate from one lot to the next. Velocity is usually around 3150. If that don't turn your crank you can keep all things the same except work up to 94 or 95 gr of Retumbo instead of RL 25. Some have great luck with this powder. Great hunting bullet, great BC, and its pretty much as tough as a partition. Just be sure to work up from lower levels as each gun is different.

I run ramshot magnum 95 gr. with 200 gr. Nosler partitions. This is max in Noslers manual. Goes 3100 fps. I did load some 165 sst bullets with reloader 25. I will have to find the load info and get back to you.

I run 96.0 gr of RL 25 with 180 grain partition or accubond. average velocity of 3347 from my 26 inch barrel sako.

I've ran:

150IB's over 95grs of R-22 for 3650fps
168TTSX's over 100grs Retumbo for 3450fps
180NAB's over 97grs Retumbo for 3375fps

All had good accuracy but the 180's are my main longish elk load...

Work up to these charges in your rifle

100gr Retumbo, Rem brass. CCI mag primers,180 gr barnes TSX.

I think that Retumbo and 200gr Accubonds were made to shoot in the 300 RUM. This combo has shot great for me in a couple different 300 RUM's...............................DJ

There are relatively few cartridges that ever come along where a bullet and powder combination is deemed so perfectly matched by the majority of users. The .300 RUM with the aforementioned components is one such cartridge combo.

You will see from my own notes that I too favored this very combo. We may vary a grain or so by rifle to rifle, but the Retumbo / 200gn Accubond is a superb hunting rifle combination capable and suitable to all, save a very few animals, interationally.

The best load I've found for my 300 RUM is 95.5 gr of Retumbo and a 200 gr accubond.

I'm tryin to fight the urge to run 200's...

RE 25 and 200 gr. Accubonds were my favorite.. Plus the same powder and 150 gr. BTBT for coyotes..

I am bringing back this thread as I have a couple questions for you guys shooting 200 accubonds and retumbo...I took out my buddies 300 RUM that I am doing load work for and shot today to break her in. I only loaded H1000 today as it seems to have some good recommendations. I didn't play much with seating depths, just loaded to max length that would still fit and feed in magazine (3.650) and loaded rounds at 90, 90.5, 91, 91.5....The 90 grain group produced a .94" group at a 3070 FPS average....The rest of the loads all opened up and averaged 1.5-2.5" maxing out at 3200 FPS....Need to do better than this considering the quality of rifle, optics, componets, ect.

Sooooo....it seems Retumbo and the 200 grain accubonds are very popular and successful combo for many. My question is were do I start? The Nosler manual 8 shows a max load of 91.5 grains at 3070 FPS (24" barrel)...Yet many are saying loadings in the 94-95.6 grains are there go to loads....Is the manual a little to cautious? Are these 94-95 grain loads super hot?

My goal is to have the 200 grain accubonds shooting tight clusters in the 3100 FPS range - I would be happy with that at with a 26" tube - shouldn't be too much hassel. On a side note, I do believe the rifle has a pretty standard if not touch tight chamber as the rifle was showing slight pressure at 91.5 of H1000 and the nosler max shows 92????

If I were you I would start pretty light and just watch the velocities on the Chronograph. I would be very careful of velocities much over 3100fps with 200gr bullets. If you find a load in the 3050-3100 range that shoots well it would be golden. If I were shooting that same rifle again with a new lot of Retumbo I would do the same and rework up the load. over 9yrs powder lots can vary. My new lots of H1000 are giving me much better velocities than before as just one example.........

What brass are you using? Brass capacity varies quit a bit between the available 300 rum brass(Hornady has 3 grains more capacity than Norma for instance).
Hornady has the most capacity and is the best for the 300 rum followed by Remington, which hasnt been made in over a decade.

I'm running new Norma Brass...Picked up 75 pieces from sportsmans so that is all I will have access to.
