On a recent trip to Nosler I picked up a pile of .308cal 150gr E-Tips and am going to start loading them. I can find next to nothing as far as load data goes for them, anybody suggest a place to start with say H4350? From their shape they seem simmilar in size to my 165gr Accubonds or BT. I was thinking about starting with 165gr load data and working up...any thoughs or experiences?

H4350 is a little slow for the 150gr Etip/30-06. The longer bullet needs a little more volume than what H4350 can offer, I was crunching powder till the bullet would not remain seated and never broke 3000fps.

Thinking RL15 might be your cookie with the 150gr Etip....

It's old school but with most 150 grain bullets about 52 grains of IMR4064 is really good. Back off a couple of grains and work up, I bet you'll be on the money pretty quick.

I've played with them a bit. (150 etip) I would say they do't make much more pressure than say an accubond even though they are slightly longer. I would start 1-2 grains under your favorite load and work up.
I found the 180 e tip to be a different story though. It definately makes a pressure jump over other 180's--probably 3 grains.

IMR4064 was the powder I loaded in my friend's .30-06 with 150g ETips. Good accuracy right at 3000 fps.

Nosler says to use their data for a comparable BT or partition. Max is 2 gr below what max is for the comparable bullet.

It would be interesting to see what RL-15 would do. It is my favorite powder for the .375 H&H.

I'll report back on RL15 next month, range is flooded out right now.

If you can get your hands on any Ramshot Big Game is outstanding with 150's, especially long 150's because it's a very dense ball powder.

I have also tried utilizing H4350 and 150 grain e-tips.

I began with 56 grains of powder and worked up to 62 grains in one grain increments. No signs of pressure even at 62 grains. The case filled the neck about halfway to the top at 62 grains.

Since I don't have a chrony, I haven't had an opportunity to check the speed. I don't think that this load would have significantly less velocity than other 150 grain bullets but without a chrony there is no way to tell.

Accuracy was good with remington magnum primers and winchester cases (new). I started by seating .050 off the lands. About 1-1.5 inch groups which is about as good as I can hold off the bench. 58 grains was the most accurate.

I am looking forward to trying Ramshot big game. I bought a pound of it when JB wrote his article on the 30/06.

I worked up to loads in 2 06,s with 150 Gr N E tips around mid range loads with 4350. Will PM my load data.

My standard load with 150 gr bullets has been 52.0 gr of IMR-4064. I've played with other powders, and they may have been a bit better in velocity, but nothing has really beat it in terms of accuracy. It is right about 3000 FPS in my 24-inch 1903 Springfield sporter. My most recent batch has been with Ballistic Tips. I'd probably start at about 49-50 gr and work up.

I shot several loads today with H4350 and H4831SC and I am less than impressed with the 150gr Etip. I saw the pressure signs with similarly loaded 165gr accubonds and BT and the velocities were similar as well. Pressure signs occurred around 2800-2850fps which is less than I have seen with other 150gr bullets in this rifle. Accuracy was not all that great printing an average (5) shot group around 2"-3" with all loads, the best load was right at 2". I will be loading some other powders for the next range visit but with these results I may have a couple hundred Etips for sale in the near future. For less than half the price I can shoot 165gr Innerlock into MOA groups and have killed just fine for me the past 20 years....some times I should not tinker.
