I have a bag of 7.62 x 39mm brass with small primer pockets somewhere in my garage, (I think they are R-P from memory)....they are supposed to be more accurate (a la PPC case theory) other shooters have been wanting to buy them off me....does anybody still make this calibre brass with the small primer pockets ? And if so were can I get more ?

cheers

Peter
The Small primer pocket brass is Remington. As Far as I know they were the only ones that did this. I have not seen it, but I am told that Remington has switched over to the LR pocket for their factory ammo. Remington does not list 7.62x39 brass as a component any longer. If you want more you will have to get it used at one of the many online "once fired" brass dealers or maybe GunBroker.
Thanks Steve,

I have yet to try it in a Ruger M77...but others have said the smaller primer cases were more accurate...I'll have a hunt around for some more.....
My lapua large pocket cases give excellent accuracy. In a hunting gun its probably not worth the difference.
Sounds more like Remington Basic BR brass; Are they headstamped that way?
They say 7.62X39. It is a pain to try to seat a primer in them when they end up in an unsorted batch of brass. (You really have to squeeze the lever hard to get a LR primer to go in. grin )
Never knew Remington did that. Of course I've never reloaded or bought a "name brand" 7.62 X 39!

They may be Remington's, but a few PPC cartridge shooters may desire them.
