What are you guys recommending for a 130 Gr. bullet in the 270 WSM? I already have H-1000, IMR4831, IMR 4007SSC.
I've done well with IMR 4350 and H4350 but so far my favorite is RE17. A little more speed than the other two with not bad accuracy. This project is a work in progress through so I'd like to hear other responses.
i get great accuracy and velocity from H4350
Idon't know what powder Winchester is using in their new PowerMax 130gr loading, but I got 3338-3316 for 6 shots in a 26"
Schnieder barrel. One group .500 next 1.25, not bad for factory fodder. Have been trying Magpro and it looks promising.
I only use one powder in my 270 WSM and it is MagPro
Try the 4831. I use H4831sc with the 130's in mine. I'm willing to bet the IMR version will do you just fine.
I know they aren't on your list, but RE 17 and Magpro have both given me top velocity. RE19 has given me the best accuracy, but speed is 80-100 fps behind RE 17.
I get top velocity and best accuracy with RL 17.
I tried a bunch. IMR4350 is great but is a little slow in my gun (3225 ish). RL17 shows alot of promise but I have not shot it over the chronograph yet. Both powders with 130 grain bullet will shoot three shots .5.

Second the magpro.
3rd on the Magpro and 140's
Anyone running a 22" barrel?
What about IMR 7828? I found some old load data showing top velocity and really low pressure.
RL 17, RL19 and IMR 4831 are good second choices.
4th on the Magpro and 140 gr
I get factory velocities and my best accuracy with 130gr bullets with H414.
63.0 grs of IMR-4350 Moly coated bullets

Based on results I've seen in my buddies 270WSM, I'd have to 5th the MAGPRO. Top velocity and great accuracy. He swears by it.
RL22 and 130grTTSX shoots awesome
Mine likes the H4350 flavor.
My son likes Magpro with 130 gr Ballistic Tips, I like Reloder 17 with 130 gr Accubonds, and Accurate Data 86 Extruded with 150 gr Ballstic Tips. Need to try some Magpro with some 140 gr Noslers, it might be the best combo of accuracy and velocity.
I use R25 and 140's and get 3175fps with excellent accuracy. I believe I'm 1/2 grain under max.

Dan
My winchester model 70 is very fond of 130 grain pills and R19
Another vote for I4350 and MagPro
I've used both RL22 and Magpro with good results.
A big case with a small hole in the barrel always say's a slow powder to me. I tried some RL-22 in my 25-06 and my 6.5-06 and the stuff worked great. I also have some good loads with IMR4350 and H4350. Never had good loads with 4831'a except in magnum cases, you might want to try one of those.

My 270wsm prefers 140gn Accubonds and 67.5gns of W780 Supreme for 3150fps.

67 gr of RL19. 130 gr Interbond.
24" Model 70, Winchester brass, Winchester mag primers, 130 gr ballistic tips, a max load of H4831 gives me velocity and accuracy.
RL22
I use 62.8 gr. RL17. 3400 fps in 80 degree weather With my Savage 24 inch barrel and 1/4 inch groups.
Wow,you must have a fast barrel, best I can get is 3280 with 63 gr RL 17 using the old Barnes xlc coated bullet.
Standard 1 in 10 twist. You can't achieve the same velocity with molly coated bullets. They are slower per given charge.
I know you said 130's but I use 150's in all of my .27 cal. rifles. FWIW, I've pretty well settled on Retumbo with IMR-7828 a close second. I'd guess H-1000 would be good too. I tried Rldr-25 and velocities were quite anemic.
Just something extra for you to think about.
Bear in Fairbanks
I've been running R19, But I may have to find myself a can of MagPro.
I am with Bear in Fairbanks. My .270WSM loves Retumbo and Nosler 150's BT's and Partitions.

For 140 grain bullets H4831 has done best so far.

For 130's Imr 4350 has worked.

All my loads will shoot sub MOA with the 150's shooting 1/2".

I have also been fortunate to have all my chosen loads shoot within a couple inches vertical of each other. For an average hunt I could just grab a box of ammo and go.

Resurrecting an old thread for the sake of some new powders having come out since this was first asked.

Seems Mag Pro got the vote.

Does this still stand.?

I have had good luck with. ^^^^^^

Not surprising, I used to run it in a 270 Wby I once ran.
Magpro and 150 partition and fed 215 primers.

Anybody tried the Enduron powders in this cartridge.?
I’ve had good success with H1000 and RL26 with 140 Accubonds. Plan for August is to try some 130s.

Best load I came up with was RL23 65gr WLRM primer with 140gr Accubond.
used 2.835 OAL and got 3128fps SD 13.3 with 22" barrel. Rifle is M77 Ruger
one year only I think. Something about a law suit. Using Win cases.

66gr of MRP 215m primer R/P cases 2.820 OAL 140gr Hornady Interlock
3112 fps SD 5.9
Re-19 with 130's, specifically Ballistic Tips
I’ve gotten great accuracy using IMR-4350 and 110gr TTSX’s and 130gr GMX’s. Now looking for more velocity. I’ve tried a few rounds with 7828SSC, RL-22 and IMR-4831 and couldn’t duplicate the accuracy with any of those. May have to play with the powder charges a little bit to see what i can come up with. I always use WLRM primers and Nosler or Winchester brass. Test rifle is a Tikka T3 lite with a 24” barrel.

R22, MRP, R25 and R26 are all good in my rifle.
