After the wife said the 140 loads I worked up for her kicked to hard,I loaded these in a Tikka T3. I am pleased with the accuracy, however I was expecting 3300+fps with the 58gr load. No excess pressure signs. What do you think? Should I creep up to 59 grains ( which is max),or stay put.
270 win
110 TTSs
Win cases (new)
Federal 215m primers
58 H4350
3.300 oal (.065 off the lands)
Looks promising! I'd run the ladder just for chits and grins. Probably .2 gr at a time....... But what you have will do the trick. Did you try a few more groups to verify consistency? I'd also see how she shines at 300 yds also.....my 2 cents
I shoot the exact load, except I use the 59gr of H4350 in my Alaskan Ti. It shoots 3 into 1/2" groups at 3340 fps. I would give it a try and see what happens...I mean check for sure there are no pressure signs now.
Great little bullrt out of a 270. I get a little over 3600fps from 75 grains of AA3100 out of my 270 Weatherby and it is consistently .7 or better. And it flat fills real good!
Stay Put!! I do not underforstand the I can get one more grain in mentaility. Or should I say I don't understand anymore...grin
I used to but I don't anymore, what one will do the other will as well!

Boys first year hunting, drew a mtn goat permit on first try. Used my .270 with 110 TTSX for his goat. One shot @ 287 yds and game over.

Looks pretty good where it is. The critters will never notice a few more fps or a marginally better group, even if you get one.
BUT, if you enjoy the tinkering, that's cool, too.

I will load some more and check consistancy. There was a slight breeze which might explain the horizontal stringing of these 2 loads. Was very surprised at the low recoil of these 2 loads.
I finished at 59grs for 3375fps out of a Tikka t-3. Used the same oal and load for the 110Vmax and its a wicked combo. I shot it out to 1000 last week and it did very well to 600, started to loose it at 800 and really went to poop at 1000. I know, it was never designed for the long range but it was fun to build a dope card and it was better than staying home. I was turning a lot of heads out to the 600yard mark and it shot much better in the wind than the BC would have indicated.
If she is really recoil shy drop down to the 95gr TTSX designed for the 6.8, only needs about 3000fps at the muzzle to expand out to at least 400yards.
i am using 63.5 gr of hunter powder under moly coated 110 gr. bullets for avg. vel.of 3400 and 5/8" 3 shot groups 22" barrel

1234 is that a max load in your gun. where did you get that load data from
1234 is that a max load in your gun,I cant seem to find much info anywhere on Hunter and the 110 ttsx
I've only been reloading for about a year. And only loading for my .270win the last month or so. I'm noticing all these "high 50s" and even some "60s" in grain charge. I had some RL15 left over and desided to try it just to see with 52.7 showing to be a MAX load according to my Lymans Manual. Is there THAT much difference in powders ? Photo below shows what the first time out did, 48grains of RL15@ 3.30 oal..loaded the same this morning to see if its consistant due to conditons the first time.
I'm loading R#17 with win cases, fed 215's and getting in the 3500's with the 110g tipped tripple shock, 2" groups at 300 with WIND....very flat shooting!
Alliant lists this load in their loading data.
I couldnt agree more.
I went back to the range today with the same load @100yds, 48grains RL 15 with the 110 TTSX.
Fired a fouling shot then a 5 round group...
aceman 2101 i have been unable to find my source for the load i stated. checking my notes i started at61.5 grs and worked up to 63.5grs i tend to load big game loads hot as they are not shot that much once zero is checked once if i am lucky bullets were moly coated.

Aceman I have used Ramhot hunter in the .243 for the same applications as H4350. I even used the exact same charge between the two and the velocity was dead even. I use the hunter for high volume loading on a Dillon for match ammo and it flows perfectly and does not bridge up like the H4350 will occassionally do in the smaller cases.

deg,it would appear your load development is over as far as accuracy is concerned. Have any idea what velocity your getting,That seems to be a fairly mild load. Great group
No I really dont. No chronograph. Was hoping someone would chime in with a chart or something...These are coming out of my 22inch Featherweight (swampy :D). Lymans was using a 26inch tube according to them in the testing. I've wondered myself cause apparently these "have" to be going pretty fast to open as designed...would be a big help if someone could shed some serious light on this. Lymans lists 2861fps with 45grains, 3296 with 52.7grains, using the 26inch barrel
According to the Barnes #4 the starting load is 49grs Re-15 and maxes at 53.5. This is for the 110 TSX BT Velocity is 3210 for the starting load and 3452 for the max load. 24 inch barrel
I'm running 64gr RL-17, with some win brass and cci primers. Haven't shot though a chrony so not sure what speed I'm running. I can put three touching with this load. Shot two caribou and a deer with this load and it did really well.Shooting a Browning SS X-bolt 270 wsm.

Mark,
That is AWESOME!!!!!!
the hunter powder load i gave came from barnes loading data on the internet
Ed
aceman2101...thats Scary to a new loader..Like I stated, Lymans Manual minimum is WAY below what your manual says..SO HOW is one to know what to load SAFELY ??!!
Thx Skane-wait till you see the pics of the bruin he's gonna put on the turf here in a couple weeks or so...grin

Went back to range today to to try the 48 gr h4350 load and to try some RamShot Hunter. All I can say is I believe my load development is over Was kinda hard to measure this group. I measured outside to outside and subtracted .277
Aceman what vels did you get with 58 H4350 and the 110? Rifle?
I shot that load but did not clock it.
Thanks!
getting about 3240fps. I must have a slow 270,because others here are getting 3300+ with less powder
Rifle is a tikka t-3 with 22.5 inch barrel
Aceman thanks.....I ask because back in the bad old days I used to load 60 gr IMR4350 with 110 Sierra's to shoot New England woodchucks....vels were a bit over 3300 from 22" barrels....I wanted to compare notes, and it seems like your vels are pretty normal to me.

Is this 48, or 58 grains of 4350? Target says one the post says another..just curious..when I run out of RL15 I MITE give it a try
oops my bad, that should read 58 grains h4350
Thanks for clearing me up on that aceman...be hard to break away from my RL15 with htese..but thats what loading your own is about..
