I have been using H4350 in my 30-06, and .243. According to the manuals It looks like it should be a winner in my new 7mm08 as well. I really like keeping things simple and may have to start buying the big jug. Am I missing something or is it that good as an all arounder?

Its that good Bigbuck 12, I use it in my 7mm08, 338 Win Mags, and even in a couple double rifles in the 500 and 577 Nitro Express.

One way or another, the bigger jug is not going to be regrettable with that powder.

For the three specific chamberings you mention - .30-06, .243 and 7mm-08 - in their most used range of bullet weights it is about the best there is.

I have several dozen centerfire rifles, and too many rifle powders that I experiment with all the time.

Out of curiosity went through the list a few weeks ago, seeing which powders ended up most often in the main load for each rifle. H4350 was the runaway winner.

H4350 followed by Varget and 4198 covers most bases, but H4350 gets bought in 8lb jugs.
And Blue Dot has to be in there dont you think Seafire

John, I'd be curious to know how much Ramshot Hunter is making inroads on your "main load" list?

H4350 and Varget are about all that's needed on my bench.

I could do quite a bit with 8's of H4350 and Varget

Brad led me to H4350 with my 300 wsm and now I use it in my 30-06's. It's a great powder and I've been getting great results in both accuracy and velocity. It is also very temp stable from the tests I've been doing. I have no complaints with this powder.

Whenever starting to load for a new-to-me rifle where either H4350, H4831 and RL19 would seem to be good choices, I always try Hunter as well. A lot of them time Hunter works better in that individual rifle. It's a great all-around powder in the .257 Roberts and .270 Winchester, and is almost all I load with 180's in the .30-06 anymore. It also works great with 55's in the .220 Swift, heavier bullets in the .243 Winchester, and 150-180 grain bullets in the .300 WSM, .300 H&H and .300 Winchester Magnum.

Overall, Hunter comes up 5th on my list of most-used powders, behind H4350, TAC, Varget and Magnum, at least in terms of top loads for different rifles. But I burn more TAC than anything, because I use it in several gopher/prairie dog rounds, including the .17 Fireball, .204 Ruger and .223 Remington.

Does anyone have a load to share for the 7mm08 with 120 bt and h4350?

Bigbuck, H-4350 may be a tadpole to slow for the 120's in the 7mm08, i would look to RL-15 or Varget.

H4350 w/ 140's works though. 48.0 and he's good to go.

H4350 or IMR4350 are the most used on my bench right now.

I use it in 7-08, 30-06 and plan to play with it in 25-06 and 270 win even though it may not get the speed of some other powders

John, thanks. I phrased my question badly, what I meant to ask was how much had Hunter replaced H4350 in your list of favorite loads, but your response already covered that.

My 7-08 with 120 grain bullets is great with Big Game. I believe I settled on 51 or 52 grains for best accuracy with the ballistic Tip. This load is great for antelope and coyote.

Add Unique and that would cover a lot of pistol/rifle/shotgun loads.

The simple answer is "yes", but something either side of it woud also work depending on where yoru cartridges lean. Because you mentioned the .243 and 7-08, a powder to the faster side of 4530 would also work for you and would taking in 760/H414, Varget, Rel 15, and several others.

I think I'm going to buy a big jug of H4350. This powder just plain works for me. It has proven fast and accurate in the 243, 30-06 and now the 7mm08. I might take a second look at the 300 wsm as well. I had always purchased 1# at a time in the past but now I think the big jug makes more sense. I like the temp stability and it has given me some of the most accurate loads in the caliber's I listed.

I love the chit, I'll use it in everything I can. It's very temp stable, I get good velocity and great accuracy from the different cartridges I use it in. I used to be a huge IMR 4350 fan, but noticed it isn't as stable in varying temps as the H is so I swithced and have no regrets...

Yep, me too! Other than pistol I buy rifles now with this in mind. I do have RL22 on hand just for those times I have to try something odd.

Generally I have to bump the H4350 up a bit more (1 to 1 1/2 grains) to get the same velocity, but I don't have any problems getting my 22" barreled 30-06's up to 2800 ish with 180's....and H..
