Charlie Sisk or any who may know

I read in an old post that you used H4227 for loads in a .358 win, how did this powder work out for you? Are there better powders out there for the .358 win in the Hodgdon line-up?What bullet weight did you use? Any and all responses are appreciated.
I use H322 with the 225 Nosler Partition in my 358.
H-322 would probably be good with the 225-grain.
H-335 would probably be better.
(Just guessing haven't tried either one in my .358 Winchester.)

Richard Mann(whitetail) and I used H4227 in the 358 with 200 grain and 225 Partitions and Ballistic Tips. If I remenber right, that powder gave the best accuracy and pressure curves of any we tried. I'll send Richard a pm and have him respond, he may remember all the details. I still have the rifle and I think I have the magazine article he made, might take a while to find it.

In the Sisk rifle we tried IMR 4227 and this is what we found:

With 225 Nosler Partitions, 37 grains of IMR 4227 produced about 62,000 psi and a mv of 2450. Accuracy was exceptional.

With 200 gr. North Fork bulelts, 39 grains of IMR 4227 produced about 59,000 psi and 2590 fps.

We found the best overall results with Ramshot Xterminator where 47 grains would push 225 BTs to 2520 fps at 52,000 psi and 200 gr. NFs to to almost 2700 fps at the same pressure using 48 grains.

Of course we could go at this gradually and watch for trouble signs on the computer. With 4227 just a small increase in powder raised pressure substantially. 4227 was tried because we were looking for a powder that would give HIGH pressure before we ran out of case capacity short of compressed loads.

In this particular rifle when we reached 52,000 with any bullet/powder combination it shot very well.

I think Xterminator and or Tac is the way to go. If you try any of these reduce by at least 5%.

The best I ever found was the OLD aa2015br not the new stuff xmr2015. Lately I've used 748 with excellent results in my Blr81 and 20 inch bbl. The loads I used are not listed in the manuals show no signs of pressure and reslly scoot, plus game proven !
I've had good luck with RL7.

Spot
Mine really dotes on IMR3031. As stated earlier, 2015br is outstanding in both the .358 and the Whelen--if you can find it.
My .358 loves 48.5 gr of IMR-4895 under a 200 gr spitzer Corelokt. It also likes W-748 and 250 gr bullets.
Thanks Guys

I really want to try TAC or Exterminator but i cant find Ramshot powders locally, guess im gonna have to move to Montana!
FWIW dept., I'm with Ken on this one, mine likes H335 a whole bunch.

Spotshooter....... If you like RL-7, you need to try the newer RL-10x in your 358win! It fills the case just right, so there is no big danger of a over charge! In my 20", 12 twist barrel, I get consistent one hole groups @ 50 yds. with this load!--North Fork 200gr. over 47grs of RL-10x for a AV of 2605 FPS, with a SD of (4)! This load shoots some less expensive 200gr bullets almost as well! I like straight shooters...... Edward L.
