White Tail Deer....68.5 grains of Rl-25 behind a 140 grain Hornady SST gets me 3150 FPS.

Very accurate in my Weatherby Vanguard.

Rl-17 behind 130gr Partition or TTSX for deer. Factory velocities in a 24" barrel is easy to achieve. I know I don't premium bullets to kill deer, but they don't blow up at 50 yards and still work at 300.

69gns of H1000 and a 140gn Accucond works for me.. As for velocity, well, thats doesn't really matter if you hit them in the right spot.

In my rifle that loads give 3010fps.

140gr Barnes TSX in front of 65grns of MagPro:
Javelina to Elk

Note
Barnes load data range is from 64 (2861) to 70.5 (3125).

130gr Accubond with 67.0gr H4831SC, I've shot antelope, muleys & elk with it. Ballistics are almost identical to my 264 & 120gr ballistic tip.

Two nights ago, I smoked a whitetail buck across a wheat field on my farm with my .270 WSM, shooting a 130 gr. Nosler E-tip at 3300 fps, ahead of 63 gr. of RL22. Range was 353 yards.

If you are looking for a 'Hayfield rifle', the .270 WSM is hard to beat. In my rifle, the E-tip is way sub-MOA, and is fast becoming my favorite rifle for all big game, except big bears.

Bought a 270 wsm fro 79s and it loves 66 gr. of magpro and 150 nosler partitions

I've had good luck with the Barnes 110 grain TTSX and R19. Makes whitetails bad sick.

130gr accubonds and RL17 are getting my 3375fps out of my extreme weather model 70. So far 4 deer and an elk have succumbed to it, none made it more than 50ish yards. Ranges were from 40 to 330 yards.

Thanks guys just got the gun now i need rings and bases hehe.

66gr of RL-22 used to be my load. 1/2 moa easy @ 3,300. No pressure.

68gr RL-23 gets a hair more speed (3,375) and same accuracy. No pressure. RL-23 is marketed as temp insensitive.

130's

You choose.

Bringing this back up as I plan to start reloading for a rifle that has been sitting in the safe for a couple years.

I have some 110 gr. Sierra's & TTSX on hand that I plan to shoot first but then plan to work with the Barnes 129 gr. LRX & Hornady 130 gr GMX to see which shoots the best. I want to end up with one load good for Carolina whitetails to Bull elk.

Reloader 22 plus a 140 grain accubond. Super accurate
Posted By: Model70Guy Re: 270wsm - 10/23/16
130 Ballistic tips or Accubonds over 67 grains of old style 7828. 3400 fps. Its flat enough to reach 650 with the B&C reticle and a 300 yard sight in, which is what I expect out of a 7mm STW or sort surprisingly a .300 Win with 190 LR Accubonds. The 130 load seems to be all a whitetail or black bear could want, and the Kimber Montana is proof that 1 pound of rifle for every hundred yards is enough. wink

I've got another load that serves as a dual loading, for such times as I might want to a heavier, more sturdy bullet for known to be close range or bigger animals. The 160 Partition over a case full of Retumbo puts out 3050 fps and as luck would have it shoots to 200 yards with the first load sighted for 300. Also as luck would have it, though I've had the 160 in the barrel hunting, I've never had occasion to shoot one at game. Maybe its just bad luck.
