55.5 grains of Varget with 185 Barnes TTX's are not getting it done! I dont want to waste money and time! I need a 300yd round without a separated shoulder!!!! Thanks in advance!
With the 185 TTSX, 56.0 grains of RL-15 in Norma cases with WLR primers has been the most accurate load, followed closely by 52.0 grains of IMR 4320. As always, start low and work up.

Hope this helps.
H4350 or RL17 with a 210 Partition, 225 Partition or 225 Accubond have worked well for me. I get a touch more accuracy with H4350 but a touch more velocity with RL17. Either would get the job done.
If you're looking for loads beyond the TTSX, the 200-grain AB over 53.0 grains of Varget works very well on elk--the only animals that I have shot with it. The 210 Partition over 52.0 grains of IMR 4320 also shoots bug-holes in my rifle, but I have never used it on game.
Try a Sierra 215 over Re-15, maybe -17, and see if that gets it done
I used 57gr of RL15 and the 185ttsx in a Kimber Montana (rebore). Federal match LR primers
58.5 rl 15 with 180 AB AND 56.0 rl15 with 185 Hor GMX WORK FOR ME BOTH WITH Fed 210's. Work up to these as normal.
210 sciroccos and RL-17 gets me sub MOA for 3 shots and 2800 fps

250 A frames and RL-17 gets me 1.25" at 100 yards and 2500 fps
I shot 53.3gr IMR4064 with 185GMX, @ 2745fps.
It's worked fine for elk and lined up nicely with my scopes hold over marks to 400yds.

Loads for my 338-06

210 Nosler Partition
54.5 grains RL-15
Norma Brass
Fed 210 Match
Seat 3.750 @ Ogive
2685 fps

225 Nosler Partition
61.0 grains IMR-4350
Norma Brass
Fed 210 Match
Seat 3.750 @ Ogive
2700 fps

Both of these loads shoot great in my rifle. It has a #-3 Shilen Barrel cut at 23 inches.
Tag, need to keep track
62gr H4350, 210 NP, 2650fps out of a 24" barrel.

Forgot to add this was from a 21" barrel. Add 50-75 fps likely to the above speeds from a standard 24" barrel.
57 gr R-15 185gr TTSX

My 338/06 AI load is 62.0 grs of IMR 4350 CCI LR 200, 210 gr. Nosler Part. My rifle is a custom L61R SAKO 24" Shilen barrel Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 with the Boone & Crockett reticle! The shot was 206 yards through the boiler room never took a step! Newfoundland Canada! Sept 12, 2015!
Congrats! It looks like you had better weather than I did. My son & I were there 2 weeks later with my .338-06 and got a sunburn. 75 & sunny every day. Never saw a moose. Came home with a cooler full of lobsters though! grin

I was using 210 PT's ahead of 55grn of RL-15. They way over-penetrated on the lobsters! wink
Hahaha!
H380...

200 grain Hornady SP....65 grains

225 grain Horn SP... 62.5 grains

250 grain Horn SP....60 grains.

That's the load I used this year to kill a nice Idaho cow elk. Worked great. Pretty sure I got the brass from you Ben.
jmdriver,

Tell me about your rebore. I always have wondered if the accurcy was good, if the cost was comparable and generally where/who can perform such a task!

Thanks,

B King
I had JES rebore a Kimber Montana from 270 to 338-06 and cut the barrel down to 21".

It shoots 225 accubonds around 1.5"at 2690 fps.
250 grain A frames at 1.5" at 2500 fps.
210 Sciroccos at .75" at 2800 fps.

Also the one on top is a Kimber Montana that JES rebored from a .308 to a .358 win.
Otis,

I never knew we had Moose in the Ouachitas!!! Ha!! I live slightly south of Fort Smith. Nonetheless.......it looks like a good kill!
I have had good luck in a couple of rifles with 62 Big Game and a 210 TTSX, velocity is pretty strong as well. Work up to it!

I've also had good luck with RL15 and 4064.
Jstevens,

I do not have Big game on hand but I do have RL-15! I see it is next to the RL-15 on the burn chart! Speaking of the burn chart, does anyone have a link to the new/current powder burn rates?
Big Game works with 225 Accubonds too
58.5 grains Varget and a 185 TTSX have been outstanding accuracy wise in two 338-06's for me. Great on game too.
