I'm currently is using RE22 in my pop gun and it's scary accurate but I have to really walk the dog to get there. Has anyone tried Re19 or 17 in this round? Looking for something that will give me the same or better velocity with a bit less pressure. Thanks.

I haven't used any of the reloader powders in my 8mm-06ai. I have been working up loads with the new imr powder 4451. I have had more experience with re22 in the 7wsm. The only true way to tell is to load them and shoot them in your rifle. With wildcats with little load data I tend to be on the conservative side. I set a goal of mv and accuracy. For my 8mm-06ai I am working on a load with 180 nbt trying to reach 2800 mv and see what the accuracy is at that speed. My first batch of loads started with 54 grains of 4451 up to 57 grains. Starting load registered avg 2530 and the 57 grain load avg was 2667 with a sd. of 16. Groups were about 1.5 inch at 100 yards for 5 shots. So there is going to be an increase in charges up to 60 grains and see where that leaves me. I have read a lot of the newer powders work there most efficient nearer to max pressures. Maybe someone can chime in on that fact. But if i were to get good groups at say 2750 avg mv I would be happy even if it I didn't hit my mv goal. Deer and hogs aren't that hard to kill, and 50 fps isn't going to make a difference. M8x57

I have an 8x60S and did quite a bit of research for my 200gr partition load. H380 is a classic powder and worked well for me getting 2,600fps with ease. AT had a couple of posters who swore by N550 and I bet that would turn the 8mm06 AI into a real hot rod. I suspect RL17 would work very well.

Archer, I would definitely try IMR4064 w/the 180 load starting at 54.0grains which is a safe load. BL-C2 will get your velocity with ease but some people don't like it because it burns somewhat dirty but once you get your load established, how many rounds is a guy going to shoot during hunting season.

You didn`t mention bullet weight, but my rifle likes IMR 4064 with most bullets. For deer and Elk, I`ve used Sierra`s 175 gn Pro-Hunters.
