So on a whim I ran a box of Hornady's Precision Hunter 150gn ELDX for chits and giggles.

It held MOA or better out to the 600 yard line. In addition, at 2780fps on the magneto with a 23"bbl, the numbers say I will be above 1500lbs at 450 yards. Hell of a hunting load for a 280.

The problem is that I know I can get 3000fps + from this 23" bbl with RL22 and no pressure with 150gn partitions. I know the ELDX is longer so not an apples comparison but it got me pondering possible energy at further ranges. At 2900 I would pick up 100yards.

Anyone played with ELDXsin a 280?

No but check out R26 and 150's in the 280AI it's a good match and since this and with the 270 you can get to 3,000 fps safely I would expect the same from the .280.
