Thought I would ask here, never encountered this before.

I was loading for a 44 mag and had been using 200 grain XTP bullets everything worked fine on seating, crimping etc. I switched to another bullet, 200 grain soft point (unknown mfg.) and that when things got weird. The bullet would slide down in the case with very little resistance. Thought OK, I overbelled the case mouth. I resized a few cases and still got the same issue. I got out the caliper and measured several bullets and got .425 and .426 roughly. Isn't 44 bullets supposed to measure .429 or .430?

I was finally able to get some of the bullets to fit snugly enough until I could crimp them in place. So what if any issues is this going to create? I do not figure accuracy will be good and I am going to shoot them 1 at a time in case the bullet is set back from recoil. What else might happen or what am I missing?

Thanks,

DR
44/40 bullets. Why [bleep] with them.
OK, Thanks...........................Dang it
How many do you have?
58 of them.
That's not even a blip on the radar. Time to move on, or buy a 44/40
yep, I have thought of both.
