Gentlemen,

I have a load for my BSA .270 which shoots very well, but do you think it might be too hot?

130 grain Hornady Interlock
61 grains H4831sc compressed
3102 fps
This is in a 22 inch barrel.

Brass is necked PMC .30/06.

Book max is 60 grains. Quickload says that 3150 fps for 60 grains is near maximum in a 24 inch barrel. I am getting 3100 in a 22 inch barrel.

I have no high pressure signs on the brass that I recognise. Primers are flattish, for what that is worth. Bolt opens normally.
3100fps is what I typically get out of a 130gr bullet with H4831 from a 22" barrel. More with a longer barrel.

That's been the standard for about 70 years.
Ok. good. thanks. Thats what I thought too I just wanted someone to reassure me....
In my 9th edition of Hornady's handbook, the max load for a 130 gr. bullet and H4831 is 62 grs. That gave 3100 fps in a 24" barrel.
