I read with some interest “Digging Up Rare Brass and Projectiles” article in the Handloader 311.
I’ve only had experience with Hawk bullets with my 350 Rem Mag. That rifle will shoot several loads sub minute of angle but with Hawk bullets it shot ~5 MOA. I’m curious, what’s other shooters experience with Hawk bullets? Also, since the jacket is soft, was full power loads in a 350 too much of a good thing?
I still have a box of Hawk bullets, maybe I’ll try them in 35 Rem.

I've shot them in the 358 Win, 350 Mag, 35 Whelen AI, 30-30, 9.3x62 and .375 H&H....I never had any accuracy issues with them that I recall. What grain bullet were you using in the .350? I had better accuracy with the 200-225 in the .35 cals. The jewell of the bunch was the 190fn in the 30-30! Scary accurate.

Before I switched to Woodleighs in my No. 1 450/400 I was using Hawk .410 400 grain. Sub MOA even with aperture sights. I have not used any other caliber Hawk bullet, but in the .410 you have the choice of 3 jacket thicknesses, so I would pick according to what is being hunted. Terry

The Hawk bullets I was using - 225 grain. That 350 shoots like a varmint rifle, but with those Hawks the best group was 5”. I still have a full box. If someone would want these, they’re available.
I have a couple 35 Remington’s and a 358 Win. I could try them in those I guess.

I guess there is a reason to use Hawk bullets, just ain't figured out what that reason is.

They are expensive. They look like they would work well on game. But with copper jackets I wonder if velocity is limited???
But with the 35 Remington most any jacketed bullet seems to work. With 358 Win, I like Speers and Hornady’s.

IIRC I tried some 250’s in the 340 when I tried anything I thought might be better than the last best thing. No real accuracy problems but in my penetration tests of packed wet paper I remember they came in about last. But that was at about 40 yards and at ~ 2900 fps mv.
