What charges are you guys running with Magnum and Re 26 under a 160 gr bullet, preferably one of the Nosler flavors. Primer?

I've seen more than a few loads posted n the innanet with 61.0 grains of Re26 but wanted to hear from you all.

It would seem a guy could run with 7 SAUM loads in the 280 AI as they are dang near identical in case volume.

24-26" barrel?

If anyone else has good loads for 160 NAB, please share as well.

Do a search someone with the handle River Runner did a lot of work with R26 and Berger bullets. He and I both came up with the same load as Buffalo Bill. The Accubond has less bearing surface than the Bergers that RR was using so the 61.5 should be a good max charge with the Accubond. I ran up to 62.5 and was just getting signs of pressure so 61.5 should be good. I am getting 2950 - 3000 fps. with a 25 inch tube but I need to check it again.

I was using Nickle brass which has the highest capacity of any 280 brass I have used so I can usually run a grain or so more powder than with Nosler brass and some others.

I use 65.0 Magnum in my .280 AI with the 162 Hornady ELD-X. While 26 gets more velocity, Magnum proved significantly more accurate in this rifle, a 700 with a 22" Douglas barrel chambered by the late Mickey Coleman.
Muzzle velocity is 2815 with a CCI 250 primer, but would be around 2900 in a 24-25" barrel.

Haven't tried it with a 160 of any type yet.

Thank you John. I ran 66.0 in my 7 SAUM under 160 Partitions back when I owned a SAUM - it was sub-MOA with that load. I knew it had to be in the neighborhood of my 7 SAUM charge.

I'll try those two powders first and suspect I'll be done in short order. At least I hope........

I'm using Nosler 280 Ackley brass. 61.5 grains of RL 26 for 3,044, 3065, 3079, for 1/2 accuracy.

This is out of a 22" mtn rifle barrel on a 700 Ti action.

Off topic, but 280AI Nosler brass at Cabela's for $62 a box right now. My local store had four boxes

Kimber Montana, Reloader 26, new Nosler brass, Federal 210 match primers and the 160 Accubond.

Velocity measured by LabRadar.

60.0 gr averaged 2935fps, .6 MOA
60.5 gr averaged 2982fps, .74 MOA
61.0 gr averaged 2997fps, .68 MOA
61.5 gr averaged 3046 fps, .3 MOA

Temperature was 12 degrees, all groups were three shots.

60 grains avg 2863, 0.66" gross
61 grains avg 2968, 1.02" gross

Ramshot Magnum

63 grains averaged 2757, 1.39"
64 grains avg 2809, 1.13"
65 grains avg 2855, 1.44"

65.5 grains of Ramshot Magnum under a 160 Accubond has been my go to load for my 280AI...Ramshot Magnum with a 168ABLR has been very good also.

What velocity are you getting with 65 great Magnum? I've never been able to get much velocity from Magnum in a couple of cartridges.
