Sierra has released a new line of hunting bullets. I really like the looks of the 90 gr .243 dia bullets for use in a 6x45. I can only imagine they’re planning on more of these in the future.

Just ordered a box for my 6mm Rem.

Maybe they'll offer a 140 gr 7mm in the future

PM sent, was loading the Sierra 95gr HPBT, after shooting the new 90gr gamechanger I will be switching to them.

Got some on the way for my .243, hopefully it'll shoot them like the 85gr gamekings

My daughter shoots the Sierra 120gr Pro Hunter in her .260 with excellent results on deer. The 130gr gamechanger .264 looks interesting but with the results she's had with the 120 PH it would be hard to convince her to try anything else. It's good though to see companies trying new things and good to have options.

Why 130 in 6.5? Not 140?

...just as long as they don't neglect production of, or outright discontinue the old favorites that earned them customers in the first place. Nothing worse then seeing these companies getting so caught up in their own marketing hype that they start discontinuing bullets that have been around and selling for years.

AMEN

Seems to me that they are kinda missing the main selling point of bullets for these days. The biggest longest best bc bullet possible is what is selling the most aint it? I bet they will work well though. [bleep] ive never had a seirra bullet not shoot good.

I just posted on the Gunwriters board about loading them in a 243. Reloder 15 made quick work of them. Very impressive groups and a nice bullet.

130 is a pretty good balance of speed and decent BC in a Creedmoor size case IMO.

Sierra's first releases are aimed at most popular bullet weights that also work with standard twists. The new bullets are very long for their weight. The 90gr .243" version, for example, is barely fully stabilzed at sea level in the 1:9+ twists that are most common in 243 Win. Releasing a new line of hunting bullets that require custom twist rates is not a very good way to recoup the R&D investment....

Maybe in another 40 years the Sierra-bond?

Loaded up 3 rounds each yesterday at 47,47.4 and 48 grains of RL26 at 2.810 COAL and shot them out of my 700. The 47 and 47.4 grain loads both went 1/2 inch you could cover the 3 shots with the 48 grain charge with a dime. Obviously this is very limited load testing but pretty comfortable in saying they are going to shoot. Going to load some more at 47.4 and 48 grains and run them over the magnetospeed but load development may be pretty much over. 47.4 grains of Rl26 with a 95 BT gives me an average velocity of 3160 fps and SD of 10.6 for comparison.

They are purty but i have a bunch of 165 NBTs. Interested to see how they compare but I have a 308 so any 165 bullet works great on game.

Following how this works for you - I'm considering the same.
Posted By: kenjs1 Re: New Sierra Bullets - 09/18/18
Holy cow that is a difference. I am thinking the length may be prohibitive to some magazine lengths.

I was using the 140 Gamekings in my 260 with absolutely perfect results. Then I read they weren't supposed to stabilize in my A-bolt and I believed what I read over what my lying eyes were telling me. I shot one hog up close with the 120 PH and it existed but I saw evidence of fragmentation, Guess the secondary exit might have been a bone shard but.... my question is, do you run those at modest speeds in your daughters rifle? ? I do. I did kill a hog at 400 yds with it but want confidence in the PH at shorter distances. I think my current load is only 40.5gr imr4350.
