I have great data for 200s and 225s (normal rifles), but wanted to try a lighter pill for the 10" SBR.

Anyone have any data for the Hornady 158 XTPs?

Thanks in advance
Not much info to go on. What is the intended purpose and what powder are you interested in? Most cast bullet handbooks will give you a place to start. Just keep your velocity above 1600 fps or so to keep the bullet from lodging in the barrel.
We have great data on 200s and 225s at speeds to 2,630 FPS, but I happen to have 300 QTY of the 158 XTPs and figured I would try to cook them a bit faster out of the SBR... just because...

No idea on powder yet... maybe A-2200, A-2495, A-2520 or AR-Comp, just because I have it on hand.

IMR-3031 worked well on the heavier pills, but the compression was a real PITA... figure the 158s would run out of case volume before speeds near 3k could be achieved.

Basically, QL data would be a logical place to start... if anyone wants to play with QL for me... or themselves... Thanks

Bingo... lots of books treat .358W as an old fogey slouch... not the monster it can be.
Check out Speer's website...the reloading section has .pdf data files, one of which is for the 358 Win using 158 gr bullets.

IIRC the data I have seen for loading XTP's in rifle cartridges advises not to "cook" them especially if they are to be used in the harvesting of game. Don't know what you objective is in trying to accomplish 3,000 fps, hope it's not to use for hunting.

If they will run 2,900 FPS+ in a 24" barrel... they will be about 2,400-2,500 in a 10" barrel... that is my goal... and yes, I will hunt with 158s at 2,400-2,500 FPS
Good luck!
Friend ran these for me...

Gonna try W296 with LRM primers and Ramshot Enforcer (aka A4100). We shall see...

Ran the Speer data in QL... TOO MUCH unburned powder in a 10" barrel.
