Hey guys I was wondering if anyone can help me with some quickload information. I have been playing with some Sierra 165 Gamechangers in my 308 win and I have tried quite a few different powders with some success and have been closely monitoring for pressure signs and chronograph along the way and have gotten to a point where it seems that these bullets shoot better when they are pushed hard. If someone could run the quickload data on this for me that would be great. Here are the specs on the gun. Remington 700 factory barrel, 20", using lapua brass. So far my best success has been with Tac but i was wondering if maybe something slow burning like RL17 or 4350 would work as well.

If someone could run quickload on this bullet for me to check against some of my results that would be appreciated.

Thanks
Derek

Unless you're hanging bullets well out to increase available powder room I wouldn't recommend going to powders in the 4350 class.

What results have you gotten and what would you like to achieve?

I have gotten the velocity i was after but so far with tac, 4895, and rl15 i havent really been able to get stellar accuracy in fact for the the most part it has been poor but has started to show some promise with tac but i am currently slightly over what book max shows. So far bolt throw is easy, primers are good, no ejector marks, and case head expansion is not an issue. I was just curious what the estimated pressures are within quickload is all.
Unfortunately that bullet is too new to be included in the QuickLOAD database. I have no idea which bullet might come closest to the Gamechanger, or I might run it for you.

Thanks RiverRider I didn’t think of that. So far this has been a strange bullet. The old Sierra 165 hpbt gameking shoots great so I will go with that if need be but for now I will keep playing with them and see if I can get it come around.
Good luck with it!

Everyone I know that shoots a 308 uses Varget.

In terms of velocity, Alliant Power Pro 2000-MR runs rings around all the single based powders. W748 would be the next choice followed by RL15.

What speeds were you getting with RL15?

I didn’t get as far as chronoing the rl15 or the 4895 because the accuracy wasn’t very promising so I just shut it down there. A max load of tac tripped the chrono at 2754
Varget is a great powder for the 308

I've been looking to try Tac.

This doesn't seem right. RL15 and 4895 will generally make a 308 happy.

I am going to revisit RL15 mainly because I agree with you most of the time it agrees well with a 308.

I don't have a chrono but in my 20" barreled 308 Remington 700 RL15 gives outstanding accuracy. At 100yds I'm at .307moa. At 250yds. .503moa with 165gr Gameking SBT'S.

If you don’t mind me asking what are you using for a charge weight? I know I need to work up for my own gun I am just curious.

I'm right at 44grs.
