Picked up a, Winchester model 70 featherweight 300wsm, and I tried Hornady 200 grn eld-x on a recent hunt and everything was fine and shot well. I am looking at the 212 eld-x and handloading them. My concern is, if this bullet will be on the long side for the box or will it need to be seated deep into the case to fit.

Anybody try this tip in a wsm round?
No, but would think that seating depth would be the same for both bullets, to fit and feed properly in the mag. The longer 212 would take up a bit of case capacity. If the 200 is shooting well, why go to the 212?
212 has a little higher BC, so I would like to give them a try.
Seems like it would be a trade off for less velocity for a slightly higher BC about an even wash. The 200 seems like a good match for the 300 WSM the 212 I think is for the big boys 300 Win. and larger. But if you have them give them a try could be the magic bullet. I would be tempted to try some just touching the lands even if they had to be single loaded just for experimentation purposes. The 300 WSM doesn't have much of a throat or lead to it so seating depth may be less critical. The seems to be true of the 270 WSM that magazine length seating usually works out.

Actually I had the same thought.
the M70 wsm action has a longer mag box than many rifles in wsm s

you will have room for most any practical bullet........
