I can't for the life of me pick which one to start with. I am working on some 243Win groundhog loads using the 75 grain speer hollow points. I have both win 760 and IMR4895 on hand to try. Anybody played with either of these with sucess? Gun is a Ruger M77 MKII. I prefer using one of the 2 listed since I already have them on hand
My little compact ruger American loves 760 with 58gr vmax’s and 90gr accubonds.

I'm a big fan of IMR4895
I have tried 760 in a number of cartridges over the past few decades. Quite often I was pleased with the accuracy and velocity--until the temperature changed considerably. IMR4895 may not be as spectacular, but its steady--which in my experience is more valuable as a hunting powder.

When you say considerable temp change...you mean like a 60 degree swing? I would likely do load workup at maybe 30-40 degrees and would not see shooting it much above 80 since groundhog hunting will likely be after work and in the evening, I guess that could potentially mean a 50 degree swing. I did see that the velocity from both powders should be very similar...
760 would probably work OK in those conditions.

W760 is my go to powder for the 243. I use it for everything between 58 to 90 grain. When I get into the 95 and 100 grain bullets, I usually find another powder that is a little better. I have never had a case high temps affecting my loads, but then I rarely shoot the 243 in hot weather, as I use it strictly for deer and coyote hunting.

use H 414 with 95 and 100 grain bullets in the 243.... during fall weather...

I use IMr 4895, with all bullet weights, in all seasons in the 243....

W760 will give highest Velocity of the 2. I use it in my 7mm-08, same case. RL16 should work with heavier bullets if you
get enough in the case. It is very temperature. RL17 will give higher velocity.

I got very accurate loads with 75 and 85 gr. Sierra bullets using IMR 4895; never tried W760.

Well I went with the IMR4895 because I have almost a pound of it and dont load anything else using that powder. Shot it today and with a max load ot shot .75 at 100 yards. Definitely shows promise
