I had bought some PPU 22-250 brass a couple of years ago. I checked the runout of 50 loaded rounds and it was right at .002. I had turned the necks to make the necks even with the thinnest area after annealing the cases. I have read several posts over the years about PPU brass and thought I'd share this.

I've only tried it in 7mm Rem. Magnum. Worked as well as anything else, but was very heavy brass, 14% heavier than Winchester and with a reduced internal capacity. Max. loads worked up in Winchester brass require a slight powder reduction with PPU brass to get equal muzzle velocity.

I have PPU 8 X 57 and.....well son-of-a-gun, I forget!!!! Anyway, I found it to be good with both cartridges.

That’s really interesting. I use PPU brass in my 7x57 and find it comparable in weight (within 4 to 5 gr.) to Winchester, considerably less than Remington and way way less than Federal. Would be interesting to hear head to head weight results in other cartridges. Perhaps they have different standards with different cartridges. Nonetheless, I’ve found PPU excellent in the 7x57. Every bit as good as any of the other three mentioned brands.

I've found PPU to be heavier in 7.62x39 as well.

Ditto that in ever chambering I've tried them in; other than that I've had no issues.

Dave if you get a chance can you check and see if your brass has a larger than normal flash hole
I am using PPU 22/250 and the flash hole is a lot larger than usual
Doesn’t seem to be an issue
It weighs the same as Winchester

I just checked some new PPU cases against some Winchester nickel plated cases a Hornady cases and the Winchester flash holes are larger and the Hornady flash holes look the same. The PPU flash holes look more uniformly round. I didn't weigh my PPU cases.

Thanks, I was given a big bag of these and am not sure about their origin, most looked unfired

My loads in PPU brass yielded pressures/velocity increases over my Winchester and RP brass equivalent to an extra grain of powder. I would be careful transposing max loads w other brass to PPU BRASS.

I`ve taken to weighing/sorting brass now, even from the same head stamp. Some vary considerably with in the same caliber. As a hand loader, another variable I try to eliminate.
Use an electronic scale, goes a hellofalot faster.

I weigh all of my brass. Whenever I get a fresh lot, I size, trim, deburr the flash holes then weigh them. I’ll usually weigh 15 pieces, take an average of that then weigh every piece. For my purposes, I set a parameter of +/- 1.5 gr. as acceptable. For example, if the average of the first 15 pieces comes to 165 gr. then my parameters would be a low of 163.5 and a high of 166.5. Anything outside of that is separated for fouling/plinking.
This is for brass anywhere from .243 to 30/06 size. Of course, I use my electronic scale for this. I use my old balance beam for powder as I trust it more for more exacting work.

I shot a bit in various calibers. Don't remember reloading but I'm sure I saved them. I have 303 Brit, 9.3X62, and some other calibers. Will load when I get enough boxes to make it worth it. They always shot well. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

I use ppu brass in the 303, 30-06 and the 300wm. It’s decent stuff well worth the price.

PPU brass has been excellent for me. Anneal every 3-5 firings and it will seemingly last forever.

I’ve piles of it in 7mm-08 and 25-06. No problems and would buy again.

My Winchester brass in 7-08 weighed 155 grains, ppu in same caliber was 175 grains
