Too many 06,s looking for loads that work in multiple rifles. 165, 180 & 200 gr loads. Have looked at all the load data my reloading notes, just want some more common loads, got dies set for the smallest chamber. Have specific loads for certain rifles, just want an accurate load for all. Have loads of 180, 165, 200 gr bullets the rifles that don't make the cut are going to go. Got to maintain separation in the gun safe!
Trying to use up my older powders also.
Look at the top of this subforum easy to over-look things in plain sight ..
Like when my glasses are on my head and i can't find them .

My '06 Pet Load is 56.0gr. IMR 4350 with a 165gr. Sierra Game King, accurate in my Win. pre'64 FWT and deadly on whitetails.
My current pet load for the '06 is a 165 partition over 57.0 gr of RL 16, FC brass, 210 primer . An alternate is a 165 gr Hornady BTSP over 57.5 gr of RL 16 in a R-P case. Both have been very accurate in several different rifles. Initial groups were mediocre, but later groups were spectacular, possibly because the RL 16 got rid of some copper. (Or, my shooting got better.)
Seems like you could further simplify by settling on one bullet. If you favor the heavier stuff why not go with 180's for everything? OTOH if you are concerned with penetration the 165TTSX or 180TTSX will probably out-penetrate a conventional 200 and give you flatter trajectory to boot.
Yep...get a good 180 grainer and back it with 56 gr. of 4350...
I've killed a lot, small as coyotes to as large as bull elk, using 180 grain bullets around 2700 fps from my '06s. I think it is about as reliable as can be found.
58 to 60 grains RL-22 under 200gr Partitions, one rifle a pre-64 70, the other an old Sako, both run just over 2700 fps, damn accurate game all game busters.
190 gr BTSP Hornady running at 2700. I believe they have been discontinued. With my habit of being ready when I find something that works, I set aside 10 boxes of these. It's my go to bullet. Works well on Caribou.
At these midrange velocities cup and core interlock bullets work fine on thin skinned game.
I load 56gr of H4350, a 165gr flat base bullets, and WLR primers.

I once climbed a Tibetan mountain to consult with the sage who resided a the top. When I asked for pinnacle of his wisdom, this is what he replied.
Who has tried Winchester's new StaBall 6.5 in the 30.06? The Hodgdon site is showing some impressive velocities, 3000+fps with the 165's and almost 2900fps with the 180's.
53 grains of H4350 and a 200 grain NPT.

My “go to” also. To be more exact - 165 Hornady IL, 56 gr. H4350, Rem. brass, Fed.210 primers.
Made my Ruger #1A Lt. Sporter sing like Caruso and was pure poison on deer sized critters. No doubt it would be good for bigger stuff too but I have a .35 Whelen to cover that.
Due to the development of severe cervical spondylosis, recoil from even an ‘06 causes blinding headaches so the #1 got rebarreled to 7x57 and the Whelen is now a closet queen.
30-06
165 or 168 Nosler bt
58.5 H4350
Lapua brass
fed 210 m
I have tried this in many 06, all have shot great.

I have been looking at some Staball 6.5 data for a few different cartridges. I want to pick up a 1lb can to use in my .260 Rem, but thanks for mentioning the .30-06, I'll definitely pickup a pound the next time I see some.

Where you finding the staball 6.5???
79S, Powder Valley is listing it. Again for the record, I have no first-hand experience with it yet.
I have 1 30-06 pet load that i developed with 5 rifles. It turns in sub moa 5 shot groups with every 30-06 rifle ive tried it in.

I’m not lucky, like you lower 48 boys shipping to Alaska would kill me 🤪

IMR 4350? I have some 180 hornadys loaded up with you load data for Imr 4350. Trying it out in my husky in 30-06

One of the rifles i sold you, loved that load. It was one of the 5 rifles i took that time. The load im talking about used the 165 sp hornady interlock. I've all but switched to the 200gr partition in the good ol 06, but I'm thinking I should revisit that load in one of my newer 30-06 rifles and see how it does. I trust that load more than I trust a rifle. If the rifle doesn't shoot that load well, there's probably no hope for said rifle....
L-train that rifle like rl 22 and 167 gr e-tip as well..
Today I shot some ladder loads using four different 150gr bullets and Big Game powder. They all liked 56.0gr the best. Maybe I'm onto something here!
Also shot 57gr of IMR4350 and the Berger 168gr H-VLDs. Amazing accuracy...
Thanks, Dinny
55-56.5 gr R17, 165 ballistic tips or 165 hrnady btsp interlock bullets.
57-58 grains of 4350 and a 165gr should do it. I would gladly use Hodgdon 4350, but IMR has been slightly more accurate for me.
IMR4350 with a 130gr ttsx seems to be the whitetail death ray in my old 30-06
59 grains of reloader 22 and a 180 grain speer hot cor.

I like 130's in my '06's over 59 gr. Big Game. Have used 130 Horn, not the varmint version.
If a 130 C&C will blow thru a WT chest, may not need heavier. Good exit hole, good blood flow, lots of internal damage, mostly DRT.
They fly fast, hit hard and are surprisingly accurate.
I'm sure the TTSX 130 will work well, just haven't tried them in the '06.

That rifle is not picky man. Im glad you have it.take care of the old girl.
nosler partition 180. lapua brass. 210m. h4350. or lots of powders.
I'll say this.. one can't get enough 4831 SC in an 06 case to over pressurize the case or exceed SAAMI specs...
Thanks for these 06 loads, never been a fan, but looks like I'm buying a Weatherby Deluxe special run in 30-06. Love the data here
H414 and 165 Hornady BTSP
For years I used ( very little tweaking was required either) IMR 4350 with 59gr/150 Hornady Interlock, 58gr/165 SGK, 57gr/180 Sierra PH. Later in life I liked 60gr/R22/200 NP. Personally, I feel the 165/168 TTSX and 200 Partition in the 30-06 kill heavy game all out of proportion to their design/weight. But thats only for a limited sample. I am sure the 150 TTSX would kill the biggest bear/bison/moose too. For deer, I also like the 150 NBT/PT or Pro Hunter.
Every rifle is different. In my present 06 (TikkaT3X), 165 accubonds shoot 1/2” with 59.5g IMR4350. Velocity is a modest 2830fps on my chronograph. This barrel is slower than a couple 06s I’ve loaded for put it was stupid easy to find an accuracy node.
I always looked at 165s going 2800fps as "the goal". Anything over that is just that much more "goodness",
!
Two of them, both out of M70.
165 SST over H4350
180 NAB over Re-17
57.5 grains of H4831 with a Nosler 200 grain Partition, Winchester cases, CCIBR2 primers. This load flat out works great on elk and mule deer, and should work just as well on most anything you would care to use it on. Expansion and penetration in one package.
A LOT of H4350 and a 180 Hornady.
This is copied/pasted from "Loads that Work" by John Barsness. The article is several years old so there are newer powders that aren't mentioned here.
https://loaddata.com/articles/PDF/Handloads%20That%20Work.pdf.30-06:
I used to use around 58 grains of IMR-4350 and a 165-grain bullet to test ’06s, but H-4350 does just as well. Muzzle velocity will be close to 2,900 fps.
With 180s around 59.0 grains of RL-19 provides a good combination of accuracy, with velocity pushing 2,800 fps in a 24-inch barrel.
For decades I used the 200-grain Nosler Partition and 59.0 grains of H-4831 as my heavy-game load in the ’06, for 2,600+ in 22-inch barrels.
If you like heavy bullets, this load shoots a lot flatter than you’d imagine.
IMR4350 with a 130gr ttsx seems to be the whitetail death ray in my old 30-06
I’ve been thinking of trying the 130 TTSX in mine. They are great in a 300 Savage.
My standby load for my 06’s is 59 grains of IMR 4350 and a 150 partition or Ballistic Tip.
I have a few 06s I load for, I stick to the 200g partition and reloader 19.
I've had very good results with 180gr Accubonds 57gr H4350 for around 2800fps and great accuracy.
I should say, that's 2800fps in a 24" barrel. I also have had good results with 165gr Ballistic Tip (or Accubonds) 58gr H4350. I only saw minimal velocity gain with this load over my 180gr load stated above, so I've just stuck with my 180gr for general use.
