I am hoping I can get by with RL15 Vern. I have MOUNDS of it and no Varget... I am going to fight the urge to buy Varget for this one. I don't use it in anything else.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

Attached is a nice group using John's max of 60.5 of Varget with the 250 NAB. I shot this group just this morning. But I got 90 FPS less than John did with his. He has written that Varget varies quite a bit lot-to-lot and he has seen up to 2 grains different required to get the same velocity/pressure from one lot of Varget to the other.
I'm also attaching the chart of his original 9.3x62 data.
Cheers,
Rex

EDIT: I was wrong - it was Re15 that John saw the lot to lot differences with, not Varget. He wrote that Varget was quite consistent. Sorry for that error.

That’s great shooting Rex. I’ve got a Ruger Hawkeye I just had rechambered and rebored to 9.3x62.

I thought it was 15 that JB mentioned varying some vs Varget but either way that’s a great shooting load.

Just saw this. Scotty, in my 22 1/2” Pac Nor with Lapua brass and CCI250s, Using RL15 and 250 Accubonds I get:

60 grains = 2585 FPS
61 grains = 2615 FPS
62 grains = 2650 FPS

I stopped there. 3 shots under an inch is expected with that load.

Overall length is 3.367”. Nothing specific in regards to the long, tapered throat. It just feeds well there in my old Pre-64 that started life as a 30-06.

In my LH Win 70 Pac Nor barrel 22" 9.3 X 62

Lapua brass CCI 200 62.5 RL 15 250 Nosler BT [email protected] " at 100 yards 2626 FPS

Lapua brass, CCI 200, 66 Gr, Ram Shot BG, 2517, 2539,2521 FPS 286 GR NPartition [email protected]"

That’s very similar to mine with 250s. I get a few more feet per second but I’m using magnum primers.

I get less with the 286 however. 66 grains Big Game gives me 2470 FPS.

Also like mine and most others I’ve heard about, the 286 partition is more accurate than the boattail Accubond. I’ve heard theories about jumping bullets and resultant accuracy with boattail bullets, and since we can’t get close to the throat in most 9.3 x 62s… I wonder.

Dang, 2500 with that 286 is pretty fierce...

Used to run RL 15 around 58.5 gr with 286 GR NP around 2415 FPS switched to RS BG JB,s load and it worked.

I still haven't looked any further into loading than JB's 9.3X62 data. All of it works in my CZ550.
