What's it like compared to the 55gr gameking?
SMP.. semi pointed.... kinda like a round nose, just more streamlined ...
Powder Valley a whole lot of the old SMPs recently... they are selling but not really a mark down price...
however I still bought 1500 of the 55 grainers....
and they still had a bunch of the 50 grainers, that I bought another 2000 of those...
They were my favorite none plastic tip bullet... then they ended making them.... as always...

I like the 63's. I have only shot paper with them but they always seem to be accurate with the right load.

The 63 SMP from Sierra and the 70 SMP from Speer, are both very effective deer bullets in the 223 and 22.250 are often over looked by most hunters nowadays, who are in pursuit of the latest greatest bullet release....
They've been working from way back in the 60s, even possibly the 1950s....
they always penetrate very well.... personal feelings, I am sorry that most of the SMP style bullets are no longer made,
as everyone wants a high BC plastic tip bullet to kill a deer at 100 yds.....
Sierra has them for sale on their website for $16.95 per 100.

then their tech guys tell me that they were discontinued 5 years ago...
guess they found some or they don't communicate very well with the tech dept...

Thanks K22 I was able to buy 500!
Your welcome.
I'm sure Sierra thanks you also. LOL
The 55g Sierra semi point is a very, very accurate bullet and extremely effective on all varmints including coyotes.

Boy am I finding that out. Very impressed. Rem. 7 1/2 primers, LC brass, and IMR8208 in a Kimber Montana is a great match.
Never tried the 55 SMP but Ive shot a bunch of the 63 SMPs...very accurate and effective on deer and hog sized game.
Those who have never used them before....
Sorry you missed out on what I was doing and enjoying 20 years ago or more...
I've got a few boxes, left over... the bullets long used up, but the boxes got put aside to be used for small parts etc...
Price on the boxes, $8.00.. those SMP bullets were pretty explosive on sage rats from when I started using a lot of Blue Dot loads in the field...
the first one discontinued a long time ago, was the 45 grain SMP....I've got 4 boxes of those still left over from my last intern purchase of them, long ago..
at 3300 fps, with 14 grains of Blue Dot, I wasted a lot of sage rats with them....the coyotes, seagulls, eagles, hawks and owls ate real well after I left and headed home..
at the time It was my most favorite bullet... when they were gone and out of production, the Speer 50 gr TNT replaced them as my favorite bullet with the 14 grains of Blue Dot loads....
