I was wondering what everyone's experience was with the Hornady 75gr ELDM's
I normally shoot the Berger 75-80gr VLD's out of my 22-250's and 22-250AI's. they like to be close to the lands and I normally shoot them at .010" off the lands.............so far I am getting shotgun patterns with the Hornady's

Most twist rates are 1/12 or 1/14 in a 22-250. What’s yours?

Both my 22-250 and 22-250AI have 1-8" twist barrel's

My 8 twistb shoots 75's good enough , but 88's even better not yet tried 80"s

I’ve found that they like about a 0.010” jam or ~0.055” jump in many rifles.

My rifle shot best, by far, with .050" jump.

I shoot them touching the lands and get great groups in several rifles

I use 25 grains of Varget with 75 ELDM in a 1-8” Tikka Varmint .223. 2953 fps and great accuracy. I load them long.

How did it go?

I kinda hate to report back now................but in two different rifles. One is a stock factory Tikka 1-8" 22-250, the other a custom 22-250AI with a 1-8" Krieger. I have tried 4 different powders and seating depths from .010" in the lands to .055" jump, nothing but shotgun patterns in both rifles. Truly the most ungodly horrible bullets I have ever tried to make a load for in my 45 years of reloading. I am hoping I can sell the stock pile I bought..........

Switching back to the Bergers, I know the 75-80grVLD's flat out shoot but nobody has any and I only have a few hundred left but will have to do for now

Very strange. I'm not doubting the OP's report, but IME the ELD-M line has been the most consistently "easy to get to shoot" bullet I've experienced, across many calibers and chamberings, including the 75 ELD-M. Oh well, there are plenty of good match-grade bullet choices (if availability weren't so pitiful right now).

I agree. For some reason I always bought the 73gr eldm's for my 223 AR's and bolt guns. I think they were cheaper than the 75's, when you could get them, so it was a no brainer. Even if they were a $1.50 cheaper per 100, that made sense when I was buying 1,000's of them. Not going to post groups, but damn those 73's shoot well and so do the 140's I use in my 6.5's. There's beauty in minimal flyers when it comes to shooting nice tight groups. Sounds like boatanchor can pass them along to some of the guys here pretty easily. Maybe they can report back with the kind of accuracy they get in their rifles, if they do end up buying some from him.

Try the 77 grain Sierra TMK they are really easy to get shooting well

I tried them in 2 built 223s. Both had 18” 1-8 twist barrels and couldn’t get them tamed bone. Ran them long and short jump with 6-7 different powders. At the 200 yard line they were showing signs of instability. Might have been we could only get them to about 2750 out of the barrels.

Me and my rock chuck hunting buddy shoot the 75 gr. eldm and both of us have excellent accuracy with them. He shoots a 220 swift with an 8 twist and mine is a 22-250 AI with an 8 twist also, we are running them at 3450 fps. He popped one 2 years ago at 680 yards.

We are discussing the 22/250 here, I believe there may be something odd about the way Tikka throats these that doesn’t agree with the Hornady ogive
Moot point anyhow as the 77 TMK is a better hunting bullet at 22/250 velocities
