Heads up, just saw Midsouth has Benchmark powder in stock.
Ordered myself 6 jugs for $317 shipped. I guess that’s the going rate now.
I haven’t seen anyone have this in stock for years.
I have a bunch of Benchmark.. our local Bi Mart Chain here in Oregon, had it on the shelves quite a while.
Guess they had ordered a big amount of it, that was delayed and when it finally came in, it was in HUGE volume.
When other powders were selling for $30 a pound., they had plenty of Benchmark on the shelves for $22 a pound.
I use to buy a pound of it, every time I seemed to go into a Bi Mart store...to the tune of having 40 plus pounds of it.
I've still got quite a bunch of it, but I'll never see that price ever again. I use it most in the 6.5 Grendel.
But H 322 is a good substitute.. burn rate of the two powders is pretty darn close.
but then I have no shortage of H 322 either...
Headed to MidSouth in a few minutes to pick up my order that included some Benchmark. I have a lot of H322 but I like Benchmark also.
I like Benchmark in my 223’s. I was down to about 1.5 lbs of it. I bought a couple pounds of CFE 223 & 322 over the past couple years but haven’t even opened them yet.
As much shooting as I do anymore I probably didn’t need the 6 pounds. I was already paying hazmat & shipping so I figured what the hell. Like having money in the bank.
I have a lot of other powders too that I need to go through and figure out what to keep and what to sell locally. I just sold 4 pounds of H335 to a buddy, he loves the stuff. I use to use it in my 458 winmag but that’s long gone. I offered his buddy 2 pounds of Varget for $75 and the guy said no way he was paying that much. If he wants it now I’m thinking $110, lol.
Was just on Powder Valley's site... They currrently have Benchmark in stock in the 8 pound containers..
A little over $300 for the 8 pounder. 9/27 9 PM West Coast time.
Powder valley 8lb would have been $373 shipped for me. I would have bought if not for my Midsouth purchase. 6 lbs should last me a little while.
Benchmark.......good stuff
IMR 8208 is another good one
Several years ago, I settled on Benchmark as THE powder for my 223s, 204Rs, 17 Rem, and 22 ppc. These cartridges comprise the vast majority of my PD shooting and total volume of shooting. So I try to stay well supplied with Benchmark.
Benchmark is the only powder I use for the 204s whereas Tac and Varget are used in the 223s.
I've got more powders that I know will work well but I just haven't taken the time to work up loads yet.
Bi Mart promos turned me into big fans of Benchmark,(223 and 308) 414 and Superformance (22/250 and 6.5 CM). 300 and 600 yard targets sort the wheat from the chaff!
Yesterday, one pounders of BM at LGS, $46.99.
