I built this on a whim. Ran across a bunch of loaded ammo for cheap initially. Had zero interest in an AR platform. A Howa mini thin barrel that was a problem child with vertical stringing with more than five rounds.
I won’t say it’s a tack driver but more than sufficient for prairie dog use. I don’t compare it to a 22-250, that is ridiculous to my way of thinking. It does split the 223 and the 22-250.
The only thing in between was the old 222 mag. Brass or ammo was all but unobtainable, I see more today than I did 20 years or more ago.
Have had zero issues with the Howa. Use factory mags for the 7.62x39/6.5 Grendel. Had to remove a little to the back of the magazine to keep it from skipping over the rebated rim, didn’t hurt the feeding of the other two either, actually may have helped. The little Howa feeds so smooth I find myself pulling the bolt back to make sure it picked up a round.
Had zero case issues as described by gas gun users.
Anyone else played with this in a bolt gun?

Built one on an AR platform. Accuracy wasn't up to my standards so set it aside and concentrated on other things.
I'll go back to work on it this fall.

I happen to have a Tack Driver.

Mine is a Nosler M48 Handgun, which is a single shot bolt action. So far I have ran a steady diet of Sierra 77 SMK bullets through it. I will probably try some Hornady 75 grain ELD-M bullets next. I have lots of Berger 80's as well as Hornady 80 grain A-Max bullets on hand for my 600 F Class 223. I should try a few of the 80's as well.
I have a Weaver 8-32 Classic Extreme Scope on it, that will Dial. I also have a Log Book with a Drop Chart in 25 yard increments. I can shoot little groups on steel all the way to 600 yards with no issues at all.

This gun came out of an estate unfired. It was custom ordered with the Barrel and Action Bright White, and the Stock Bright Orange. It came with lots of goodies. Fluted Barrel, Muzzle Brake, and a Fancy Bolt. Before bidding on it, I checked with Hunts Long Range to be sure that they could refinish it in a color combination more to my liking. Black Barrel & Action, and a Camo Stock. The best that I remember I ended up with $1500 in it after the refinish work. It ended up looking so good that I had my 6.5CM Nosler M48 Stock refinished in the same camo pattern.

If I had a choice, I would have picked a different chambering for it. HOWEVER the Nosler M48 Custom Handgun's only .224 chambering is in 22 Nosler. I liked the 22 Nosler much better after shooting it.

I would lay in a supply of Brass for it, so that you can keep it running for years. I would not bet money that brass will be made for it in 10 or so years.

We have a couple guys in our gun club that shoot 22 Nosler in AR's. They beat the hell out of the brass. One of them is a 1/4 inch tack driver and the other not so great. That is my only experience with the 22 Nosler.
