All major die makers offer a universal decapper, but Mighty Armory makes the best one.

Go Lee. I originally went with the Redding...The decap pin was thin and bent easily. I then bought the Lee and it's done both large and small primers effortlessly as well as crimped primers.

I went away from the press mounted decapping dies and found this is faster

hand deprimer

what is good about this is that you are not stuck in back of your press, you can do this while watching TV

Nothing new under the sun. De-cappers from 100+ years ago (I use them routinely):

Lastly, simplest one of all. Only requirement is a small mallet, and it's surprisingly fast

I've used the Lee fir years. God only knows how many thousands upon thousands of rounds I have decapped with the thing. I have broken one leaf factory rod in it.
I replaced with some supposed to be better aftermarket ones and broke/bent three of them fast. so I then replaced the rod with factory Lee and it's been up and going for a long time since..
moral of the story if you break someone just replace it with the Lee factory stuff not aftermarket crap.

I've decapped many thousands using the Lee die, including a good number of heavily crimped military primers. Works just fine.

I either do a lot with my Lee's., or I'm a careless reloader... I keep three on the bench there...

I go thru an order about every 12 to 18 months getting 3 more decapping pins...

They do everything from 20 caliber on up. For the 17 Fireball, they sent me a decapping pin for that, which was short so I put it in a 30/30 FL sizing die...

Lee's are cheap and functional....

I use the Lee for rifle and handgun brass prior to cleaning . It's not caliber specific like other types of dies .

This is what I use for military brass with crimped primers.

lee die mounted in my Dillon 550.......super fast.

Even faster in my Dillon 650 with a case feeder.

Could do the same with a Lee case feeder with the tubes.

Mine is a universal deprimer from RCBS. The inside diameter of the die is large enough that it doesn’t touch the case and has a decapping rod that’s pretty stout. Works great.

WOW can't believe nobody else has tried this, a better way to go IMO !!!!!!!

I ordered the Lee . only $14

Good choice. I've used the same one since they came out, complete with the original decapping pin. I agree that the Mighty Armory Decapper is good too, but I only use it with my 6BR.

I don't think you will be dissatisfied. I've done 10's of thousands of cases with mine and I'm only on the 2nd pin.

I use a Redding.

Have done 10K+ Lake City crimped primers plus 1000s additional standard primers.

Broke some pins in the process but realized a 1/16 dowel pin works fine as a replacement. Thought they might be too brittle but not so.

However waiting for the day the pin breaks right at the base making retrieval a challenge.

Recently acquired a Dillon 650 with case feeder. Makes the process a breeze.

If I didn't already have the Redding I'd probably opt for the Mighty Armory with the screw in headed pin for broken pin extraction.

I have used the rcbs one for long time but after several broken pins and even the rods I bought a mighty armory one and wish I would have done it sooner.
They have some blems on their site right now for half off. I ordered along with couple extra pins in both sizes.
I bent one pin and when I say bent it did a full I turn and never broke
Tempted to order a second one

I use the same, haven't ever had an issue, even with crimped primers. I keep mine mounted on an old RCBS RockChucker, so my other presses stay clean. I mounted one of these to my press:

and run the tube into an old powder jug.

I bought these just in the last few years, so far I've been pleased with them.

I have 2 of the Lee dacap die for years and I could not even tell you how many tens of thousands of rounds I have done and only broken 1 pin...............................
Posted By: Bry Re: Which de capping die ? - 05/13/24
I bought a Lee as well, and a spare decapping rod just because. Haven’t needed it yet.
Posted By: drop_point Re: Which de capping die ? - 05/13/24
Mighty Armory or the new Area 419. Both are spring-loaded to ensure that small rifle primers don't stick to the pin and come back into the case's primer pocket.

Used the RCBS for years. Only pin bent was in a berdan case. Have a few of these around.
