I see a lot of people like TAC in the 223 but not much info on charge weights used or velocity obtained. I would appreciate any TAC load data for the 50 and 55 grain bullets to see how "real world" data compares to Ramshot's. Thanks.

I load 40v-max with 27.3 gr TAC with BR400 primers at 3300 fps out of a 20" barrel. Not in the weight class you asked for but best I can do.

Surprised no more input so far, I have recently bought some TAC also. I have not used it much so would also like to hear some of the loads for 50, 55, 60g loads.

Horsefly, 3300fps seems kind of slow for 40g bullets?

I have been loading 27.4 with a 50 grain varmit nightmare bullet. Ohler says 3320 at 8 feet. 24" barrel. dave

Check out Sierras guide book available for down load online here

You may already have that data but, their 20" barrel AR load numbers for 52 and 55 gr bullets have been very close to mine with TAC and the heavier bullet weights weren't far off. Maybe their bolt action data will be as useful for you. I love TAC.

That's the best accuracy load for me shoots tiny little groups and bullet performed great did not see any need to speed it up, plus the rifle has turrents shoots out to 500 yards no problem.

TAC really does work better with heavier bullets in the .223. I shoot a lot of 69 grain SMK's in 16 and 20" barreled AR15 pattern rifles. In the 20" guns I'm in the 2840 FPS range (although I have not chrono'd this load recently or extensively.) A buddy of mine is using it in his "High Power" setup this year, he did a lot of chronographing with various powders and 77 and 80 something grain match bullets this winter. He said TAC was the winner each time by 50-100 FPS. I don't know what kind of speeds he obtained, but I believe him. Now if a ball powder can make it 88 rounds without powder fouling causing a drop off in 10 ring accuracy is another issue...

Fouling issue is one of the main reasons alot of people use TAC, not supposed to foul much at all. That is why I picked up some. Not enough experience to comment on the fouling as of yet, however.

26.0 and a Varmit nightmare 50 gr. sp is one of the most accurate loads so far in my CZ. I will be shooting it often this summer and check on fouling.

I use 26.5 grs behind a 50gr Nosler BT in a Rem 700 with 22" barrel. 3300 fps on my Chrony under 1" at 100 yards. Burns pretty clean.

I really like TAC in my .223. Out of my 700 SPS Varmint 26" barrel with the 40 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip and WSR primers, LC brass:
28.0 gr 3536 fps
28.5 gr 3683 fps
groups with 27.5, 28.0 and 28.5 measured all within .01 of an inch of each other for 4 shots at 100 yards, .693 to .694!

50 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip CCI-450 primers LC brass:
26.0 gr 3280 fps
26.5 gr 3344 fps
27.0 gr 3395 fps
27.5 gr 3463 fps
Best groups were with the 26.0 and 27.0 loads. 5 shots at 100 yds were .657 and .77 respectively. This was before my Timney trigger and I hope to improve on the groups.

I am glad it works well, since I bought 2 8 lb kegs when Powder Valley had it on sale for $79 per keg. It measures great throught the RCBS Uniflow and also seems to foul very little. Shoots good groups even after 50 or 60 shots.
I will try some 55 gr loads after I use up about 6 lbs of Accurate 2200 which shoots very nicely with the 55 gr projectiles.
Of course, approach maximum loads with caution and be sure to start low and work up. What may be safe in my rifle is no guarantee of being safe in yours....

I run TAC with molied 50gr Vmax's in my 700 SPS SS, 24 in barrel, and get 3400 fps and stellar accuracy.

I forget exactly what weight charge I use, I'm thinking its closing in on 28gr? I can look for the exact weight if your interested.

Thank you for the replys. Looks like TAC is worth tying, and evidently quite a few people in my area think the same because all the stores in the area are out of it at this time.

On Ramshot's website you may download 9 different loads in .223 for TAC.
