I've just finished some OCW testing using the 75 grain VMAX (again, yes) and H4350 in the .243 win. Primers were CCI 200's, and the charge range tested was 46.3 to 47.9 grains. Graduations were .4 grains. The three groups that held virtually the same POI were the 47.1, 47.5, and 47.9. However, the 47.9 grain group began a leftward move of about 1/2 MOA. Based on this, I split the difference and have tentatively declared 47.3 grains of H4350 to be the OCW in the .243 Winchester pushing 75 grain Hornady VMAX's.

Testing at 300 yards with this recipe this afternoon yielded 1/2 MOA groups, even in light wind.

Muzzle velocity was 3450 fps from the 22" sporter barrel of my Savage 110.

What I like about this bullet at this velocity is that I can zero for 300 yards, and be only 3 inches high at 100 yards, and roughly 3.5 inches high at 200 to 250 yards. Then, at 400 yards you're only looking at 9 inches of drop--or in other words, hold half a groundhog over a groundhog's head, and you'll get him.

Should be even better from the longer barrels...
