I've got a spare Santa Barb 98 action with an early glass stock. Want to put a six on it, a small six for a coyote rifle.

I was scrounging brass at the range and got some 22-250 and 6.5 Creed, I was struck at how similar they are. Always wanted a 6-250, but now wonder if "just right" might be that little extra in the Creed case.

Opinions?

I doubt a
There is a coyote born that would survive just because you chose one or the other. Custom dies, case forming and fire forming would be a large extra cost for little or no appreciable difference.

Creed is easy. Less work the better unless you’ve got time on your hands.

That is a no brainer

There the 6xc.

Ironically, I have a Santa Barbara in 243. I’d let it go cheap if you want it.

6 Creed for better brass, cheaper dies and factory loads. You can shoot the 22-250 cases in the creed to fire form if you wanted too, It is shorter but the Mauser extractor will hold it in place for forming.

The 6 Creedmoor easily wins the logistics battle.

its sad Savage got very little credit these days for their great brass Savage case ,that Savage case was just way ahead of its time. now someone came up with the name CREEDMOOR which this Creedmoor case is basically almost the same as a the old Savage case and the world starts peeing their pants to build or buy a Creedmoor Rifle now days.

Go with the logistics solution; 6 Creed. Brass Availability - Lapua or Alpha. Click the easy button.

I already have a 22 BR and have smashed 221 cases out of 223, so I can work up good brass, and cull the trash. I'm still leaning toward the 6-250 because I will more than likely use light-for-caliber bullets, maybe up to 90 grains at most, and a short throat. But yes, that Creed brass looks pretty darn nice.

The Creed won't do that just as well?

With the advent of the 22 and 6mm Creed, Improved and Wildcat 22-250 based rounds simply make no sense.

Since Charles Newton designed both the 22HP and 250-3000 for Savage, maybe he should get the credit.
