I’ve done it with the intent of duplicating 22 magnum loads with the flat nose for the impact effect of the flat nose. You can use normal 22 Hornet loads for 45 grain bullets. I used IMR 4759 out of my stash for those reduced loads but IMR or H-4227 will work well in full power loads.

I have used the 45 gr flat nose load data hornady publishes. I never do max loads. I think i did 11 gr of lil gun. Good accuracy.

11.0 grains of Lil'Gun is below the minimum charge in my Hodgdon manual. It might be safe but those cases are so small I think a full grain of powder might make a big difference.

The minimum charge I show for a 45 grain bullet is 12.0. Max load is 13.0 grains.

It's all over the board. Nosler has the min of 11 gr with Lil gun

Hopefully that link will work. It is off the Hornady app. The max is 11.7 and the min is 9.5 gr

in the 80s Allaint use to publish 6 grains of Blue Dot for the hornet in their load manuals..

2400.... 5.5 to 10.8 grains... for a 45 grain bullet...

You're right. Every book has its own data and oftentimes it varies. My only concern was with the small volume of the 22 Hornet case, I wasn't sure what a full grain less would do.

I used that bullet. I don’t recall the exact recipe but that bullet is VERY destructive on ground squirrels. I thought it might be a great coyote bullet.
