I acquired some Winchester WST powder and plan to use it in 12 ga 1 1/8 ounce target loads.
Anyone use it? Is it better or worse than Clays or Red Dot?

Been reloading since the 1960s and have never used any Winchester powder.

I have some that I'm about to load some trap loads with. Both 1 oz and 1 ⅛ oz loads. No previous experience with it though.

It has been years since I used Winchester powders but the 2 things I do remember about it are 1) in my guns, I was about 50 FPS faster than what the reloading manual said I should be when I shot across the chronograph 2) it was a dirty powder leaving lots of residue in the barrel.
I switched to Clays and never looked back. However, in this time if I could get a good deal on the Winchester stuff, I would not turn my nose up at it, but I would chrono my loads to make sure I was getting what I thought I was suppose to get FPS wise.

I don’t reload much, but WST is all I’ve ever used in 1 1/8 loads. As pullit said, it is a bit on the dirty side. Flows fine in my 600 jr.
Good 9mm powder.
