It happened on some other forums I'm on too. They join....get their posts ups...then start scamming. Usually they want money via PayPal and Venmo where there is little chance of getting it back.

Look for the signs:
- Recently joined the forum
- Will only accept electronic payment
- Will not give their name and address
- Will not give "proof of life" - them holding the item in a way where you know it's a recent picture.

To be safe, insist on sending US Postal Money Order to a physical address with tracking and a signature.

There is a myth about USPS mo. They are no more safe than other MO. The USPS is incapable of getting packages delivered on time. They sure are not going to spend resources to prosecute someone for mail fraud for few hundred dollars.

US Postal Money Orders and use of the US Post Office = FELONY. At least with an address and a US Postal MO serial # a scammer can be tracked. Not so much with an electronic transfer.
